Great match I thought, I watched it from the middle of 2nd set and both quite well. Aga hit some marvellous winners especially FHs DTL. :D Too bad she was bothered by blisters. :(

Congrats Swieta.

First two sets were excellent tennis from both girls...
would I be correct in saying there was only one break of serve?

Well done Sveta.

16 aces saved Sveta's ass.
Aga shall be top ten in a year or so.

yeah, I agree, that was a great match by both :worship:

winners: 51-33 :bolt:

Aga would have better chance to win if this match wasn't on next day after match against Bartoli, on the other hand Swieta played really good today so don't think if Aga would have a chance to win anyway ;)

I'm very satisfied with this match, thank you Aga and rest before Moscow

congrats Swieta and good luck in next rounds :yeah:

Overall, a terrific match - both had more winners than UEs by a good amount, and some wonderful points in there from both.

Sveta lost her way a bit, tactically, towards the end of the second set and it cost her the set. Then Radwanska definitely felt either fatigue or the blister problem or both and was flat at the start of the third. Then Sveta managed to go walkabout a bit before refocusing to serve out. The end of the third set was the scrappiest it had been all match and was a bit of a shame - Sveta needs to work on getting it done from a good position - she can give the opponent too many bites at the cherry.

But, in the main, a very engaging encounter with some great tennis that didn't quite engaged the crowd as much as it should have done, I think - they seemed a bit quiet.

Well done to Aga to make it such a good match and to get through yesterday over Bartoli - well done to Sveta for pulling this one out and, in the main, playing an excellent match.

Yep just the one break of serve in the first 2 sets - the third was a more typical affair.

Sveta could've won 6-4, 7-6 (She was up in the TB)

and had opportunities again at 6-4, 6-7, 5-1 but choked a bit. But oh well at least she won.

Final score was 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-3.

great tennis from both girls!
sveta's serve was awesome today: both 1st serve aces and great placement of 2nd serve kicks! congrats and good luck against serena :yeah:

aga  i m so proud of you! amazing fh winners, great play at the net, decent serving, extreme mental toughness (savin 4 bp in her last two service games of the 2nd set!). pity the blister & fatigue made her play a bit worse in the third.

A very enjoyable and high-quality match.

Svetlana's serving was superb - she was finding the corners consistently on her first serve, and she got some tremendous kick on her second serve at times. The rest of her game also looked pretty good, though she played some sloppy tennis before closing it out and that was a little disappointing.

Agnieszka certainly played her part in some great rallies, and showed nice touch from all areas of the court. :yeah:

Funny you should say that. I actually was thinking the same thing. The standard really was out of this world. Certainly the best I have seen Aga play and quite possibly the best I have seen Sveta play too. Especially amazing was the way both saved their the break points against them brilliantly in the 2nd set. If Sveta can bottle that form tomorrow's match should be very interesting.

I don't see any reason to feel sorry for Aga. Aga has had some great scalps in the past against Hingis, Sharapova and Venus but in each of these matches her opponent wasn't anywhere near their best. Today she went toe to toe for two sets against the world number two who was playing at the very top of her game. That bodes very well for the future.
