I know im getting excited but how long since we saw such solid results from Alicia ? too long do you give her much hope against Vee? she beat her in 2 tight sets at AO 05 but neither is that player anymore ... who do you guys think will win ?

well lish has only dropped 4 games so far in her matches so I think she will push Venus to two tight sets. but Venus has been playing well of late too so I will give her the edge over lish to win.

Okay, I love Alicia but I love Venus even more, so I'm hoping for 3 sets so Molik's confidence can rise, but Vee is too good to lose.

If Alicia can find that magic again I could see her pushing Venus to 3 sets.

Alicia is the kind of person that you just want to see win...but Vee has been playing so well lately :(

Venus is still making a lot of errors competing against low-ranked players, even though she won the Korean event. If she and Alicia meet the match should go 3 sets with the outcome iffy for Venus. Venus has yet to play consistent tennis, minimizing her usual overload of errors.

Perhaps Alicia can win a set, but in the end Venus will be the winner

But it's great to see Alicia with some very good results again :wavey:

Venus will win just because Alicia has won 2 matches and only lost 4 games doesnt mean she is back :o look at the beginning of the year all strong results and everyone was like

ZOMG ALICIA MOLIK IS BACK ZOMG TOP 20

Then she went like 2 Wins-38290348 losses next tournies

Goodluck Alicia.

It's hard to say considering we haven't seen alicia play, so we don't know how much she has picked up her game, hopefully her confiedence is rising and she can put in a good performance.

^ I agree. Molik's play is like Golovin's.

One minute they are threats to the game, the next minute they fall apart and get thrashed by a player who doesn't even normally thrash.

Alicia indeed has been playing well lately, but you still have to consider her level of opponent. Morigami who is seriously slumping, and Wozniak who really can't be called a real "threat." Of course, it's a great sign that Alicia can close these players out comfortably.
It will be just a tremendous increase in level against a player like Venus, and I'm not so sure Alicia will be able to handle it. Yet.

Venus 7-5, 6-3.

it is going to 50;50 match for alicia.
i expect a tiebreak or so.
alicia is one of the few players who can match up with venus's serve. her slice backhand is very good and it might trouble venus.
venus defensive skills might be too much for alica to handle.
anyway go alicia

It will be like Wimbledon vs Serena. Playing well but wasting chances. I hope she does win of course, and it will definitely be tough either way.

I tend to agree with this. I think Alicia will have opportunities to strike and attack like she did against Serena but will waste these chances. I think it could be a tough two setter.

All the tour players have a chance against each other. Venus remembers the last match and will want to set the record straight.
