Playing Camille Pin in the first round of a tournement is not a good draw for russian players  . And Maria may be tired...

Wish her the best

Maria has put in a lot of effort, but if she does not do as well here, it will be understandable. She must be tired between playing so much and travel

Good luck Maria!!

After making it to two consecutive finals these past two weeks and losing a tough three setter to Venus over the weekend is alot of tennis for our little Makiri to handle. I'm surprised that she's even here! She's gotta be both mentally and physically fatigued. Facing Pin in the first round is gonna be tough. I dearly hope Makiri can grit it out, but I won't be surprised if she doesn't get far in the draw this time around. Good luck Makiri!

The draw looks good for Makiri. If she`s not tired from making to back to back finals, i can see her at least making it to another finals in Japan.

Well the match has just ended and Makiri lost 3-6, 6-4, 3-6. This is a disappointing, but in a way not surprising result for Makiri. I don`t know why she bothered trying to play in Japan after playing two straight weeks. Hopefully Makiri will take some much needed time off.

Disappointing but not all that surprising, she must be very physically and mentally tired after playing in 2 back to back finals. Im surprised she played here also. Rest up forget this loss and win Moscow

She must be tired after those 2 wonderful weeks.
I hope she will be in her best shape for the Kremlin Cup !!!

I make that 2 bad matches out of 27 I think, if you include the Vakulenko loss. So there's no need to accuse her of inconsistency.

On the contrary, the fact that she played here despite her recent heavy schedule, just shows how hungry she is for tennis and probably doesn't want to let her fans downwho will have bought tickets. No bad thing!

Exactly. She showed up, played, and lost. She should be very tired after the schedule she has been using. I can't blame her that once she finally got into form and liked that feeling of winning that she wanted to continue more and more.

Now she can rest and go home and play next week. :)

Right on the button! Moscow is her home town, and with her confidence on a high she will be fired up for the Kremlin Cup.

That was a bad loss for Makiri against Pin. :( I hope this loss doesn't hurt her confidence.
