Bravo confirms 'Project Runway 4' to debut November 14, reveals cast

By Christopher Rocchio, 09/27/2007

Apparently Heidi Klum was right all along. A month after Klum first announced it (http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/heidi-klum-project-runway-fourth-season-premiere-november-14-5690.php) and Bravo denied it, the network has formally confirmed that Project Runway's fourth season will premiere on Wednesday, November 14 at 10PM ET/PT and revealed the identities of the season's 15 contestants.

Production on Project Runway 4 began earlier this year (http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/bravo-announces-project-runway-4-casting-call-dates-and-locations-4836.php) when Bravo announced the Emmy-nominated reality competition series would not air as part of its Summer 2007 programming schedule and was instead scheduled to premiere (http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/bravo-announces-project-runway-4-premiere-in-late-2007-4991.php) in late 2007.

"Watch the new season of Project Runway beginning Wednesday, November 14th, only on Bravo (check your local listings)," Klum posted on her personal website last month. "I consider it to be our best season yet (http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/tim-gunn-keeps-gushing-about-project-runway-4-designers-5599.php)!"

However when contacted to confirm Klum's announcement, a Bravo spokesperson told Reality TV World the network still planned to debut Project Runway 4 in the "fourth quarter" and added an exact premiere date had not yet been determined.

"Maybe [Klum] knows more than us, but I don't think so," the spokesperson told Reality TV World.

Project Runway 4 isn't the first time that Bravo has guardedly handled a Project Runway edition premiere date.

Last year, a Project Runway 2 DVD advertisement published in the April 2007 issue of Video Business teased (http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/bravo-confirms-project-runway-3-scheduled-air-this-summer-4102.php) that the second season's DVD release would come "just in time for the TV premiere of Season 3, airing July 12 on Bravo." However despite the ad, a Bravo spokesperson reached by Reality TV World at the time would still only confirm that Project Runway 3 would definitely air in the summer. Six weeks later, Bravo officially announced (http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/bravo-officially-confirms-project-runway-3-premiere-july-12-4169.php) July 12 as Project Runway 3's premiere date.

Like its first three editions, Project Runway's fourth season will once again be hosted by Klum and feature clothing designer Michael Kors and Elle Magazine fashion director Nina Garcia as part of the show's judging panel. Fashion guru Tim Gunn will also return and help guide the contestants through the competition.

The 15 contestants competing on Project Runway 4 are:

- Carmen Webber, a 37-year-old from Charlotte, NC

- Chris March, a 44-year-old from San Francisco, CA

- Christina "Kit" Scarbo, a 26-year-old from Los Angeles, CA

- Christian Siriano, a 21-year-old from Annapolis, MD

- Elisa Jimenez, a 42-year-old from El Paso, TX

- Jack Mackenroth, a 38-year-old from Seattle, WA

- Jillian Lewis, a 26-year-old from Long Island, NY

- Kathleen "Sweet P" Vaughn, a 46-year-old from Los Angeles, CA

- Kevin Christiana, a 30-year-old from Fairfield, NJ

- Marion Lee, a 39-year-old from Tyler, TX

- Rami Kashov, a 31-year-old from Ramallah, Jerusalem

- Ricky Lizalde, a 35-year-old from Escondido, CA

- Simone LeBlanc, a 32-year-old from San Francisco, CA

- Steven Rosengard, a 30-year-old from Chicago, IL

- Victorya Hong, a 34-year-old from Winchester, VA

Bravo had previously revealed March, Lewis, Scarbo and Vaughn during promotional clips that aired during recent Wednesday night broadcasts of Top Chef 3 Miami episodes.

I like Sweetpea. She's not the most talented but she makes me laugh. Kit should have won the last challenge. The fleece sport coat was the best piece made by far. The fit on Jack's shirt was off and the pocket was basically on the model's belly. Kevin's outfit looked alright, but not for Tiki or the Today Show. Maybe for a gay bar.

I've grown to like Elisa...kind of like rooting for the underdog.

Chris is probably my favorite because he used to design for a show in San Francisco called Beach Blanket Babylon. I go with my family to see the show at least once a year and the costumes are awesome. I also like that he says his favorite designer is Dior.

First i wanna say, I love this show. But, anyway LOL at Kevin's outfit being for a gay bar. I haven't gotten familiar with the names of the new contestants yet. Is he the one who had the purple shirt hanging out of the vest? What's the name of the guy who won with the ugly stripped shirt and stripped pants. I kind of liked the fleece coat, but not for the Today's show and it kind of looked like a sweater to wear at home. In fact I wouldn't let my husband wear any of that shit to go to the grocer let alone on the Today Show. I feel bad that the black chick got voted out. Didn't really get a chance to see what she could do, but her personality seemed pretty interesting.

The earthy hippie chick is really growing on me as one of my favorites. Her designs are good and I love her attitude. I also like the guy who's already a fashion designer who won the first challenge. I also like the little short guy with the beard and mustach who made the denim shorts on the last episode.

Hated that the fat guy had to go. I liked his personality. Doesn't the guy that was mocking Tim Gunn on the last episode look like that guy who played an alien on Third Rock From the Sun?

And, yeah the hispanic guy with the hats that cries all of the time kind of gets on my nerves with those ugly hats, but I don't think he's going to last long anyway because his designs and the contruction of his garments have been poor. He's really going to have to step it up.

At least he didn't cry last night. I see signs of improvement in her personality, and a degredation in the quality of his clothes (not that there was much to start with). His outfit last night was GOD AWFUL!

I was sad to see Chris go. One of my favorites on the stage with my least favorite in the final two. When she said "Ricky, you're in" I wanted to throw my remote at the television. I didn't think the outfit Chris designed was nearly as bad as Ricky's. I mean he had SHOULDER PADS as his trend. What more could he have done? Ricky had underwear as outerwear...how easy is that for an underwear designer!?! Ricky should have been booted out with his buck teeth and ugly ass hats.

On a side note, (1) Rami bugs the shit out of me, (2) I like Elisa more every week (even though her outfit last night was terrible), (3) Kit is the dark horse, (4) I'm loving Sweetpea.

There is still too much mediocrity left, with Steven, Ricky, Kit, Elisa.

I thought Elisa's outfit was sooooooooooooooooooooo boring. And not aesthetically pleasing either. Yuk.

Kit's outfit last night was sub-par for her, but I like that she mixes prints into most of her designs. Her model seemed a little younger than most of the others too and I thought this dress suited her personality. Could have been executed better, and didn't look good on the runway.

wtf was that eliminating kevin over ricky. i like ricky and all... especially with his ENDLESS crying, but kevin has been in the top 4 times out of 6 (and should have at least won one of those), and then in the 7th challenge, the ONLY time he has ever been in the bottom he is eliminated... while ricky, who has NEVER been in the top (and the only one to have this record), always has execution problems, and has been in the bottom 4 times out of 7... i dont know what to say. oh well :p

i wonder if they take past portfolios a lot into account and the judges have their favorites and/or if they base it so much on the challenge at hand.

I don't like the fact that they kept Ricky over Kevin, but I really don't think it had so much to do with execution of the design, but the design itself. Because if they went by the fact that Kevin didn't hem that dress, they had a lot more reasons to get rid of Ricky.

They really didn't make much of a deal about Kevin's dress being hemmed and said alot about Ricky's bad sewing, particularly the gathering at the bodice and the bottom of the dress. I think the only reason why Ricky stayed is because they felt his design was more age appropriate and his idea was good, even though he didn't execute it as well as he could have.

They hated the color of Kevin's dress and the design, saying it was too old for the girl, wasn't original and looked cheap.

I agree, Victorya's dress was modern and beautiful. Sweet P is a classic style, but it wasn't age appropriate I think. Long dress with a sophisticated cut and color. The girls who wore long dresses to my prom, always had something about them that made them young, whether it was the cut, the beading, the color..

I liked Sweetpea's outfit the most but Rickey's was very nice as well and I'm not mad at him.

D I E R I C K Y D I E ! ! !

He's the crying cucaracha of this season. Or in the words of Courtney from Survivor...he's the Susan Lucci of Eliminations. He's been up so many times (and expected to be chosen) and he always seems to squeak out. I'm sorry, the button fly up the front was mildly cute, but Christian's outfit blew it out of the water.

Rami annoys the f-k out of me too. It's his voice and personality more than anything. I have a former friend (also gay) from Lebanon and he has that same pretentious attitude that irks me. He's the one trick pony of the season (see Austin Scarlett from Season 1). Hopefully he goes out at the final 4.

I still like Chris and Sweet Pea, probably because they're underdogs. I think they're a little to hard on Chris though...his outfit last night was not as bad as they portrayed it.

Jillian needs to make something without a poofed out skirt. I haven't seen her tailor anything below the waist yet.

So far Christian seems the most talented.

Haven't seen this one yet, but my favourite is still Jillian. Such a classy lady :hearts: Christian is great for comic relief, and he is highly talented as well.

Couldn't understand how they picked Ricky over Kit in the last episode  Though Kit was filler, anyway. Now I read he won a challenge, I'm interested what he came up with. I must say his personality doesn't annoy me, though.

Wow, I'm surprised Ricky won. I thought he was good enough to get through in the top four, but not to win. I thought Christian should have taken the win since he really invented a new jean and jacket. I think he was robbed. Even Sweet Pea and Rami came up with I think cuter and more unique jean dresses than Ricky, but I'm no expert. Just know what I like.

Chris better be careful.

Ricky's work on the show doesn't back up his credentials. He was the least talented of out the bunch and it shouldn't have taken this long for him to produce something good.

I found myself hating Ricky and wanting him to go home, but I wasn't sure if it was because I really didn't like his clothes or if it was because I was letting all the "GO HOME RICKY TALK" influence me.

Actions speak louder than words. I wanted to see what people who actually are willing to spend money on the clothes think about who's is the best and worse. So I checked the auction pages to see how Ricky's garments sold compared to the others. This also gave me a chance to have another look at each piece of clothing. To my surprise almost every time the top three bids coincided with my top three favorites. I also noticed that the winning garment doesn't always bring in the most money.

Here's the link for the auction page:
http://projectrunway.auction.seenon.com/

The pictured Garments are all of Ricky's designs.

Challenge 1: Out of 15 garments Ricky's sold for the fourth highest (Rami, Jillian, and Chris were the top 3)
http://projectrunway.auction.seenon.com/images/au/401_Ricky_lg.jpg

Challenge 2: The paired up and this time around out of 7 Ricky's sold for the third highest (Sweet P and Elisa sold for the most and Victorya and Kevin sold the second highest)
http://projectrunway.auction.seenon.com/images/au/402_Ricky_Jack_lg.jpg

Challenge 3: Out of 13 garments Ricky's sold second to last, people weren't feeling this outfit. (Rami, Chrsitian, Jillian were the top three)
http://projectrunway.auction.seenon.com/images/au/403_Ricky_lg.jpg

Challenge 4: Out of 12 garments Ricky's sold the third to last, another bad outfit- but in his defense still not the worse. (the top three were (Christian, Sweet P, and Rami)
http://projectrunway.auction.seenon.com/images/au/404_Ricky_lg.jpg

Challenge 5: The public speaks and Ricky's design made the third most money. (the top two were Christian and Kevin)
http://projectrunway.auction.seenon.com/images/au/405_Ricky_lg.jpg

Challenge 7: Out of nine garments Ricky's was DEAD LAST and sold for the least amount of money. (the top three were Sweet P, Victorya, and Christian)
http://projectrunway.auction.seenon.com/images/au/407_Ricky_lg.jpg

Challenge 8: The paired up again and Ricky and his partner came in last yet again. (the top three were Christina & Chris, Victorya & Jillian, and Sweet P & Rami)
http://projectrunway.auction.seenon.com/images/au/Kitricky_lg.jpg

LEVI Challenge: The bids are still open, but so far Ricki's garment has the third highest bid. (the top two are Sweet P and Rami)
http://projectrunway.auction.seenon.com/images/au/409_Ricky_lg.jpg

After reviewing all of his designs I've decided I don't hate his work. He's all over the place but only on a few occasions was he the actual worse. He's got talent and he might stay a while, but he definitely wont be top three, but he's deserving of his spot.

Sweetpea = good entertainment value.

Ricky = drama.

They always keep a couple of the weaker ones around until the final 5 or 4. Remember Angela and Vincent from the last season? Or Robert from season 1? And then there was Zulema in season 2...

As far as the final three it's probably Christian, and Rami (unless he gets the Austin Scarlet treatment) and one more. Chris is the outside shot, but they'll probably give it to Jillian so they don't seem unfair to women (they always have both genders at the end).

I personally think Chris could pull a runway show off better than Rami and/or Jillian. Christian and Chris would do a great job at Bryant Park. He understands drama, but seems to struggle more with the challenges (but not as much as the judges seem to think). Rami would send 12 draped dresses down the runway and Jillian would send 12 flared bottom coats, skirts and/or dresses. The latter two are less diverse.

This is the first time I didn't like Jillian's outfit. In fact, I thought it was the worst. Glad they kept her in and I hope she can step it up.

I warmed up to Ricky this episode, and I must say I liked his outfit best. Christian's and Rami's were good, but didn't really wow me. I liked Sweet P's as well. It seems justified that Victorya was sent out, as she didn't put in much effort and Jillian had built up at least as much credit as she had. And Chris' outfit was pretty neat, still.

What??!! Why should we stay out of a thread that is discussing the ongoing show if we don't want spoilers? Especially when there's a spoiler thread. Well, I really don't think that Rami is a one trick pony, because he's designed a few things that weren't draped. Remember the candy dress? But, he's going to have bust out of the box and not have any fear in order to go to the finals.

Rami said:

I knew then that I was in a Catch-22 position. If I chose draping then it was very likely that they would ask me why I didn't choose something different. On the other hand if I chose a different theme, they could have easily asked me why I didn't choose something that I did very well and that they expected from me

People keep saying that Rami is a one trick pony, but he's only done three drapings out of 11 designs.

just watched ep:11.

Sweet P  it didn't seem close to like the art piece she chose. nice but not wowsy.

Rami:  too safe. :(

Chris: :yeah: but like the judges said, they've seen it b4.

Jillian: :yeah: she closing in on my fave.

Christian: he loves his european-frills and he made it work. :bounce:

Christian's always finishing so fast with time for catty comments for the other designers   whereas Jillian's working on her outfits till right b4 the runway!
Chris seemed a little lack lustre this episode but i prefer his more showy designs over Rami's.

Can't wait for the Reunion episode! :bounce:

So glad Christian is safe and one of the final three! I hope he wins! And I hope Rami isn't part of the final 3. :)

I thought Chris' dress looked like a garbage bag, but I guess that's just "couture"

I'm glad they will still show 3 for the final show and just have chris and Rami have a mini show to see who moves forward. I like all of them this season. Christian just stands this season. He does incredible stuff and like someone else said earlier... he is fast and has time for his catty remarks to the other designers.
Reunion Episode looks like it's going to be good laughs!!!

I love Christian, but he gets on my nerves a little. Calling everything "fierce" and everyone "bitches" is so 1998 and he's just too young to realize it. I guess middle America hasn't caught up yet so it's still considered funny. That must be why he gets away with it.

Watching the little special tonight, it dawned on me just how dull this season was in some ways. It was still good because of the basis of the show...design...but can't these people ever have a catfight or anything? Sheesh.

Yeah even though it's annoying while you watch every season needs a Santino.

Actually, I thought it was refreshing that we had one reality show with minimal negative drama. Everyone got along pretty much and I just enjoyed the designs (good or bad). I'm so drained of reality shows full of negativity I guess.

That was the best reality 'reunion' show! It was nice to see a different side of Michael Koors and to have him explain the way he dresses. I loved the little exerts they did for Kevin, Chris, and Heidi (sausages dangling or something  ) . Wow, I didn't like victoria and that recap show made me realize why. What was her deal with Jack? She looked pissed off? I realize it was during a challenge but the man was sick.
I was surprised that christian got the fan favorite. I love his designs, how quickly he works, everything about him but like someone said a few weeks ago... the fierce and other word he says is soo "1990's" .... and it's really getting on my nerves!
Kevin , Chris , Kit, Jillian would be my fan favorites.
It was nice to see Michael Knight from last year's fan favorite. Why is he doing fragrance??? yuk.... he had some pretty interesting designs. I hope he is doing well on that front.

i thought christian's "client" from the prom challenge should have brought out the check.

victorya and jack are good friends so i think they just edited it weird.

LOL, either that or she is just a really uptight person! or as my brother would say "she needs to get laid"
I was expecting the FINALE this week. I didn't think they would make a whole show out of Chris/Rami's semi-final.
 @ chris for using human hair.... ick!!! It did look nice until he said human hair. I don't know why but that just doesn't seem right.
I loved Rami's evening gown! This will be the first season where I like all three finalist. I can't wait to see their final runway show.

Fierce darling, fierce.

I am really looking forward to the final runway show. For the first time I feel that it could go either way. I like the designs of all three finalists!

I think Christian will win though.

am I the only one that thought Chris' pieces were much better than Rami's?

That patterned dress of Rami's was very nice but I could live without the rest.

Is Rami jewish, or Arab or both???

Religion is Jewish.

Israel is not considered a part of the Arab world, and Rami is obviously not part of the muslim (arab) population of Israel, so his ethnicity would be... Jewish as well?

Rami is Palestinean. His mother was Ms Jordan. He is of Arabic descent.

:worship::worship::worship: I totally agree. The dress of Rami's was the only redeeming thing he made and it was draped? :tape: The jacket over the dress, the coat and that evening gown. :help:

Chris' designs were fantastic. I loved all three pieces. Especially the black lace dress with the hair around the bottom. But why didn't he just use goat hair?

I didn't see the problem with human hair. They are hair extensions afterall. If another person is going to put them on their head, weaved into their own natural hair...why can't they be on clothes. Penelope Cruz wore a dess to the Oscars with hair on it...I think Chris was ahead of his time.

Too bad we didn't get to see his entire collection.

Someone gets robbed every year on Project Runway. Usually it's at Fashion Week, this time around it was Chris. I guess they figured he already used up his second chance. Wrong choice.

What surprised me was that Chris wasn't the fan favorite this year. I guess he wasn't "fierce" enough.

I think if Chris had listened to Tim Gunn about the human hair thing he would be in the Top 3! You would think that by now when Tim Gunn tells a designer they need to do something, they pretty much needs to follow his directive. It's not like he's giving out this advise just to hear himself speak.

on this I disagree. You are correct that when Tim tells them something they should listen normally but I think they rewarded Rami for his body of work more so than his three pieces. Basically, only way Chris was going to make it to Fashion Week was if Rami completely botched it.
