Sonya is playing some challengers leading up to the US Open (I don't know if she will play at Flushing Meadows).

She's been training at ITA in Florida with Vanessa Webb, and Jennifer Hopkins and is excited about coming back. :)

Thatīs great to hear. Do we know anything about what sheīs been up to and how it comes that she returns so soon.

News last fall have been horrible concerning her illness.

Maybe Karina and Sonya can get back together in doubles when they are back.

Who says that Habsudova will return ?

Isnīt she retired ? I know Sonya had a serious eye injury and then it was something with her brain, wasnīt it ?!

Karina has a achilles injury. She is not retired!

Thanks VSFan1. That is wonderful news.
Sonya had a cist behind her eye- had it operated on-went Ok and then was about to go to asa carlsson(svensson's) wedding and suffered like a relasp and had to go back for more surgery.

I hope she comes back stronger than ever!

It's good to hear she's coming back! Good luck, Sonya!

Wow, I didn't know that about Sonya. That's horrible. Was the cyst related to brain cancer? I would just find it extremely odd since Kelesi's first tumor was found behind her eye. Two Canandian players with the same illness would be very strange and very tragic.

Wishing her good luck on her comeback!
Sonya has always been one of my favourite players on tour.

Oh I didn't know Sonya was ill, I'm so glad to hear she's doing well now. She has a lot of talent and it will be nice to see her back. I hope she can make it to the Canadian Open.
