:p In ends in me getting stitches, so there's an incentive for those who don't like me too. So last night I was hanging out at my friends' apartment and we were planning on driving to Memphis to go to a gay club there called Backstreet. Well I had left my money and ID back at my dorm (I'm at school) and as I'm leaving my dorm and walking across the parking lot to head back to their apartment these three guys parked and got out of their car. They were obviously drunk and pissed off about something (I found out later that they had just gotten a ticket for running a stop sign). So as I walked by one of them called out "what's up" to me or something like that, and these weren't people I knew at all so I just kinda turned and nodded at him and kept on walking. Then after that they started following me and calling out stuff like "What, are you too good to talk to us?" and shit like that and I just ignored because I just figured they were being stupid and would eventually just go away. Well that didn't happen...they kept following me and then started shoving me and stuff and I was still kinda thinking this isn't gonna be anything serious I didn't even do anything to these guys etc...well it ends with them punching me in the face once each and me going to the hospital to get stitches above my lip. I actually never fought back and I kinda regret that but in the end it probably worked out for the better because now it'll be easier to press charges...not to mention there were two of them and another one of their friends was pretty close by. It was mostly just so surreal and bizarre that these two guys were starting this fight over nothing that it kinda took me a while to comprehend it was really happening. Well, anyway it sucked. And now it's hard to eat because I have a huge cut inside my lip. That's the worst part of the whole thing lol.

How did those assholes get caught? Did you see the liscence plate, or did the cops come?

Well the cops had just given them a ticket like 5 minutes before this happened (which is probably why they wanted to start a fight) so they were already around and I think they usually patrol the campus at night anyway. Right now they've just been arrrested for public drunkeness since the cops didn't actually see it happen. I'm going tomorrow to file charges with the county (this all happened on campus so so far it's all been handled by the University police).

It really is too bad that this happened to you but I'm betting it won't happen again. Would I be right to think that this is your first year at college? Eventually you sort of get a feeling for people and figure out how to avoid these kind of situations.

I pressed charges today with the County. And apparently there's also some kind of action I can take through the university too. :)

Charges? They were wasted assholes. Are charges really necessary?
Infractions from the school are probably necessary, but something like this shouldn't be punishable by the court of law. They're already in jail for public drunkeness and will probably face misdemeanor charges for that. Assault charges on top of that seem a little overboard IMO.
They beat him up. That's a whole different story than just public drunkenness. I say an assault charge is just about right :)

I hate when people, not saying you do, use alcohol as an excuse for their actions. Like, because they were intoxicated it gives them a free pass to do whatever. Blame it on the alcohol but not the person who chose to partake to begin with.

I say take it as far as the law permits you. Those assholes deserve to spend time in prison for assaulting you in addition to public drunkness.

So you think it's okay for someone to just randomly attack someone they don't know for shits and giggles? We'll see how you feel if that happens to you, dumb bitch.

basically. being drunk is not, nor should it be, a free pass to do as one like regardless of laws and the safety of others.

I'm really sorry that happened to you. But let me say that you made a good decision not fighting back... it would have only pissed them off more and you may not have come out of it with just a few stitches.

Hopefully they go to jail for what they did for you.

LMFAO. Way to be a total queen about it by resorting to name calling. Hilarious.

As for the others, I already know assault is completely different than public drunkeness. I just think it's unnecessary to file charges for a busted lip given by college guys who obviously weren't in the right frame of mind. For the record, I have gotten in fights before (or "assaulted" lol) but I felt no need to press charges given the circumstances. But people think differently about these things. You just seem petty and whiny to me. But I know you created this thread for sympathy, so I'll leave you to wallow in your own misery. :awww:

WOW...JUST WOW!!!!!

I guess different people get attention in different ways...:tape:

On some level I agree with you in that these guys getting drunk and developing a pack mentality isn't quite the same thing as a pre-meditated attack but your method of arguing it isn't exactly helping your case.

That said though, this was an unprovoked attack on an innocent bystander who had no one else around him and who clearly backed off - if the law lets the thread starter press charges, I don't see why he shouldn't. It's not up to him to decide on their punishment.

Rtael I'm glad you weren't seriously injured.

Thanks Kart. That's why I'm so pissed (at them and Miching)...I didn't even know these guys...didn't say or do anything to them...and they attacked me. That's not just violent behavior, that's fucking crazy. Who just walks over to someone and says to themself I'm gonna punch this fucker in the face even though I don't know him? Even if they are drunk? It just doesn't seem quite...right to me.

Ignore them. If this happened to them they would probably be screaming for the death penalty. It's easy for people to say things like that from behind a computer screen.

I agree. Being in a drunk state should only be taken in consideration in how much they get punnished for attacking you and it's up to the court to decide that; this is still a very outrageous thing that deserves the full punishment that the law requires. I would have done the same thing. And getting a stitched lip isn't light or anything. It must've been a terrible experience to be chased by random people who just wanted to have a kick out of you.

That's terrible! I'm so sorry that happened to you. :( What makes me angry is that they took out their anger about the traffic ticket on you. I would've done the same and just kept going but they were drunk which made the situation worse. I hope you feel better soon. :)
