My predictions of who I think will win

COMEDY SERIES:
The Office.

It's either The Office or 30 Rock and usually it takes the emmys a year or two to annoint new comedies, so The Office wins back to back series Emmy.

COMEDY LEAD ACTOR:
Tony Shalhoub, Monk ("Mr. Monk Gets a New Shrink")

Emmy's love the repeats and he consistently sends in great tapes so he;ll get Emmy number 4

COMEDY LEAD ACTRESS:
Felicity Huffman, Desperate Housewives ("Bang")

People keep thinking America Ferrara is a shoo in for this, but I think Huffman has it in the bag. It's usually about impact with the Emmys and Huffman has an absolute knockout scene in her tape.

COMEDY SUPPORTING ACTOR:
Jeremy Piven, Entourage ("Manic Monday")

Hard to pick cause I think they all have a shot at winning, but Piven's the only one who's won before so I'll pick him.

COMEDY SUPPORTING ACTRESS:
Holland Taylor, Two and a Half Men ("The Sea is a Harsh Mistress")

She's got the highest pedigree of the nominees and that will carry over into a win

COMEDY DIRECTING:
Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant, Extras ("Orlando Bloom")

COMEDY WRITING:
Michael Schur, The Office ("The Negotiation")

DRAMA SERIES:
The Sopranos

No Drama has ever won a series Emmy in their last season, but if any show could do it...

DRAMA LEAD ACTOR:
James Gandolfini, The Sopranos ("The Second Coming")

He'll ride the Sopranos love fest.

DRAMA LEAD ACTRESS:
Kyra Sedgwick, The Closer ("Slippin'")

Great actress in a great role. If Falco, Arquette, or Hargitay wins, I'll be pissed

DRAMA SUPPORTING ACTOR:
Michael Imperioli, The Sopranos ("Walk Like A Man")

DRAMA SUPPORTING ACTRESS:
Lorraine Bracco, The Sopranos ("The Blue Comet")

She finally got a knockout tape and she's in the right category, she'll finally get her emmy.

DRAMA DIRECTING:
Thomas Schlamme, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip ("Pilot")

DRAMA WRITING:
David Chase & Matthew Weiner, The Sopranos ("Kennedy & Heidi")

MADE FOR TV MOVIE:
Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee

MINISERIES:
Broken Trail

MOVIE/MINISERIES LEAD ACTOR:
Jim Broadbent, Longford

MOVIE/MINISERIES LEAD ACTRESS:
Queen Latifah, Life Support

Helen Mirren is probably winning, but I'm thinking an upset is not out of the question, and Queen Latifah is fantastic.

MOVIE/MINISERIES SUPPORTING ACTOR:
Edward Asner, The Christmas Card

MOVIE/MINISERIES SUPPORTING ACTRESS:
Greta Scacchi, Broken Trail

MOVIE/MINISERIES DIRECTING:
Yves Simoneau, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee

MOVIE/MINISERIES WRITING:
Frank Deasey, Prime Suspect: The Final Act

REALITY/COMPETITION PROGRAM:
The Amazing Race ("I Know Phil, Little Ol' Gorgeous Thing" 10/8/06)

VARIETY PERFORMANCE:
Tony Bennett: An American Classic - Tony Bennett

If he lost, I would die of shock

VARIETY SERIES:
Daily Show with Jon Stewart ("Bill Richardson 3/28/07")

Unfortunately, he'll win again.

VARIETY DIRECTING:
Tony Bennett: An American Classic - Rob Marshall

VARIETY WRITING:
Colbert Report

The less popular emmys were handed out at the Pre-Emmy ( also known as the Creative Arts Emmys ) last week. Some of the more important winners were...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guest Actress in a Drama Series went to Leslie Caron for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit ( just an AMAZING performance, she played a raped victim that actually turned out to be raped by her son  .)

Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series went to Elaine Stritch for 30 Rock; :worship:

Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series went to John Goodman for Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip;

Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series went to Stanley Tucci for Monk.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Best Cartoon: South Park :bounce:

Outstanding Reality Program was presented to the Bravo production Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some background info on Leslie Caron for those not in the know...;)

Leslie Caron—Emmy's Most Promising Newscomer
in 1951—Picks Up Another in 2007 for Wrenching
Law & Order Guest Role

Another legendary performer, Leslie Caron, was honored for her wrenching Law & Order: Special Victims Unit performance as rape victim Lorraine Delmas.

Although well known for her work in such feature films as An American in Paris, Lili, Gigi, Daddy Long Legs, Fanny and The L-Shaped Room, the seventy-six-year-old Caron has a lengthy television resume as well. Among those credits are acclaimed miniseries QB-VII and episodes of such series as The Love Boat and Falcon Crest.

“I think I was nominated in 1951 for most promising newcomer,” said Caron, who was dressed in a green floral-print dress of her own design, and her hair adorned with three flowers—one red and two green, matching her outfit. “I’m glad I finally realized my potential.”

Caron said she has been a fan of the original Law & Order for years, so when Law & Order: Special Victims Unit producer Neal Baer sent her a script via email, she was eager to participate. She also praised the show for tackling the difficult subject matter of violence against women, “a subject most of us feel very strongly about.”

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit executive producer Dick Wolf, commenting on Caron’s award, said, “It is incredibly gratifying to have one of the icons of the last fifty years of film to win for her return to American television.”

Her speech was great. I just love her. Awsome Actress and great Personality. Its amazing how many major acting awards she has already won. I have a feeling it wasnt the last one.
btw was that her son sitting next to her? Hes:drool:

Shock/Surprise of the night was Heigls win. I am happy for her. She is a great actress. I really tought Sandrah Oh would win cause she owned everyone on GA this Season.
Heigl should have gotten her Emmy last year for the whole Denny Storyline. Its great that she has one now. Her speech was funny.

I an't believe Heigl won. I mean no one was predicting her and most felt like all the other actresses in her category submitted better material. I was rooting for Lorrain Bracco who i feel never got her fair shake on The Sopranos and she submitted so much better. But I guess in the end, if your happiness depends on winning an Emmy, you're doing something wrong anyway.

Was fairly happy with the people who won. The Sopranos was a good chocie for Best Drama and i haven't see 30 Rock yet so i can't really comment on that. James Spader with boston Legal was a surprise and probably not what should of happened but happy he got best lead actor. Katherine Heigl winning an award for her acting skills a joke but i'm not getting into that one.

Still annoyed about Friday Night Lights getting snubbed for nomiantions.

The original Ugly Betty (from Colombia) was better than the Mexican versions, and
the current ABC version. But, it's a fun show anyway.

Brothers & Sisters is dribble. It had potential, then, just turned into a
Desperate Housewives with a few brothers in it.

Again, it's just Hollywood applauding itself, which is great. They earned the
right to do so. Cable is outdoing most of regular network tv in really new shows,
and ideas.

How many times can they recycle The Cosby Show or Thirtysomething, in new forms.

Memo to Sally - Golda Meir, Indira Gandhi, Maggie Thatcher, and a few female
U.S. Senators who all voted in favor of American military power into Kosovo,
Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. Women do lead nations into wars. Not to mention
those loving mommies who tell their pre-school kids to dream of strapping bombs
to their bodies to blow up the evil Jews and infidels, which sadly, many one day
actually do.

I'm happy that The Amazing Race won yet again! This year was full off surprises for me. I only predicted The Sopranos (Best Drama), America Ferrera and Jaime Pressley to win.

I honestly think The Office was ripped off this year. It won one award (best writing) but not enough. Rainn Wilson definitely should have got the emmy instead of Jeremy Piven who wasn't as great in Entourage as he was last year. Steve Carell also should have got the Emmy instead of Ricky Gervais. I see the irony that the original The Office 'boss' beat the current Office boss but I just really cannot stand Ricky Gervais anymore. His 'comedic' style is irritating the crap outta me.

By the way, does anyone know whether 30 Rock is on TV yet in Australia?

I like her previous work in Sybil (brilliant old movie), Places in the Heart, Murphy's Law,
and even that silly Supreme Court show she did a few years ago....you can keep all that
Smokey and the Bandit stuff she did w/old beau Burt Reynolds (that's an icky thought).

But, I don't think what she said was brave or brilliant.
It was a comment to the home team she knew would bring cheers - liberals rant to a group
of over the top liberals who make movies and tv shows that push their ideas.

Nor do I think she was even accurate, as I pointed out.

However, she has every right to say what she wants, and she did. It was only bleeped to the
taped audience, which is the West Coast, and some of the Central zones. The East Coast got it
live. The beep came because she was yelling, and then said, the 'gd' word, and that got the
one person with the beep button nervous. Can't blame them for that. It happens. They'd already
let a word or two slip by w/previous winners by accident. No one infringed on her speech, it's
Fox's show and time. A show not many watched by the way. Now, viewers have a chance to watch
or not watch her show, some may choose not to anymore. Some will probably tune in for the first
time because of it.

Who would, it looked like a funeral with that staging. People want glitz and glamour with these
award shows...not a theater in the round depressing look.

Why watch You Tube, it was on regular tv news afterward over & over. They didn't bleep anything out.

9/11 news footage of people at the towers is edited far more than her comments. That was deemed
inappropriate for us to see...too disturbing and controversial. But, her words, largely on tv all
the time, as well as kids being brats on CBS in a village, Paris, Brittany in her bikini, and
rappers w/their pants down to the knees singing songs about beating up women. That's all good.
