I found this in a fitness forum.

A guy, 22, wants to have sex with a girl who's 16. I'm a mother of a 1 year old daughter. I am worried about her enough as it is, but I cant think of how much I'd worry about this if this was my daughter. I'm agry about this guy doing this, am I right to be angry? What would you do if your daughter was in this situation?

(to make things equal, you can read the 22 year old guys side on his blog, http://www.becomingapua.com/2007/09/06/having-sex-with-a-16-year-old/ )

In New Zealand its common for 16 year old girls to date far older men

16 is the legal age for sex here (or the male can be 14 if its with a girl and shes 16)

That doesn't seem fair. Why is the male's age allowed to be lower?

22 is too old for a 16 yo, i always consider a two years of difference as top for a relatioship.

LOL. good point. But still is it because of what another poster mentioned? That it's cause obviously men can't get pregnant?

That I do know, because I'll be there in about 12 days for several months :bounce:

The thing is there is nothing illegal in him doing so. So if he manages to get her into bed, the law deems the 16 year old capable of making her own decisions. (in the UK at least)

IMO I think a 22 year old is too old for a 16 year old girl.

ok I just read that guys blog and he is just pure cheese :spit: Any girl that falls for that deserves a slap!

I don’t know where to start. I spot two girls about to pass in front of me. I step out right in front of them. They stop and give me a “What the hell is your problem?” look. I turn and smile at them. They walk off and mention something between themselves that contains the word “asshole”.

I mean come on! If he did that to me I would literally tell him to fuck off!

V: “Which do you guys like better?”
Blonde: “What?”

V: “These shirts, WHICH DO YOU LIKE BETTER!?”
Blonde: “OH! They’re the same shirt, but different colour.”

I look at the shirts . . .

V: “So they are . . . which colour looks best?”
Blonde: “Is this a pickup line?”

V: “Yeah. It is. I find it easier than just asking a girl if she wants to fuck.”
Blonde” *Laughs* “It’s a good line. Just make sure to get two different shirts next time.”

V: “I’ll do that. Anyways. How do you guys know each other?”
Blonde: “We’re friends from school. This is Angela. My name is Tara.”

ok these girls deserve a slap. :weirdo:

22 versus 16 is a 6 year age gap. But when a 46 year old guy dates a 40 year old woman, no one raises their eyebrows about it.

my parents have a 9 year age difference.

it's only weird when you're 18 and she's like 12....actually 22 and 16 is a little weird. i think once the person hits 20, it's generally cool.

I think worrying about your 1 year old daughter because of something going on with a 16 year old is odd.

I also think that if the girl has no mental problems and wants to have sex with a 22 year old guy, then that's fine.

Is a 50 year old too old for a 44 year old?

Well I'm sure we'll all adjust our laws and thinking to fit your arbitrary requirements.

That's completely arbitrary, though. There are 16 year olds more mentally mature than many 30 year olds.

No two people fit the same mold. I don't think 12 year olds should be having sex... but if people aren't capable of making an informed decision at 16, they'll probably never be capable of it.

I hope you both are kidding and actually understand the difference at teenage vs 40 years old.

Yeah exactly. A 6 year difference isn't the same across the age range.

Anyway, when I was in school, many of the girls in my class (15/16 years old) were hitting guys in their early 20s. The relationships seemed perfectly normal, and one reason is that girls tend to mature earlier than guys. Though if I were a parent, I'd be worried and advise my daughter to look for guys her age, or a little older, not because I think those relationships are abnormal, but many early 20 year old guys tend to play games with those girls.

On that twisted logic, an 18-year-old man fucking a 12-year-old girl would be just fine with you?

Im not sure, I mean I've heard that its because guys cant get pregnant and that guys mature quicker than girls (sexually) but I dont know the full reason why

I don't think the age gap here is icky. It's the way the guy goes to a mall to pick up girls that's icky. Guys with such low standards are so unattractive.

Well you've got to meet people somewhere.

Who has the lower standard - the guy that goes to the mall to try his luck or the girl that lets herself be picked up ?

If you're going to be angry then be angry at the legality of it.

They're simply acting within the constraints of the law.
