I'm so happy I'm reading this. Martina played a few months some doubles matches which means she is more "fit" than Monica but this result says the opposite.

I'm sure Monica will comeback :D

I think Monica will come back. She really wants to win Wimbledon, and I think that's part of the reason why she's determined to come back! :)

Can I add my voice to those praising Ronny and James's Monica website. I've loved all the articles you've posted about Monica's recent appearances and exo's. The most significant thing I read in your latest article about the New Orleans match was the fact that Monica's former coach Mike Sell was there. Now, I could be wrong, but I seem to remember he lives in California. I can't believe he'd be in New Orleans just to watch an exo - they must be working together again. I do hope Monica is able to come back - at least to have the chance to have a proper send off and retire on her terms and not just because of an injury.

Thats what we were thinking too - that would be awesome if they were working together again.

UM, WHAT? Sorry, did I miss something?
Isn't Mike on the West Coast? Pretty big deal for him to be there to watch this exhibition if you ask me.

R&J, this is my first visit to your site and it's so cool. :yeah: Thanks for the pics from the exo...it's great that you guys could be there to see two of the greats in action. How I miss Monica!! Wish she would do a last hurrah. Tennis just hasn't been the same these past few years. Had the opportuniy to meet her at US open a couple years ago, and what a lady she is!!!:hearts:

I forget the exact score. They played 2 sets and a deciding tie-break, which Seles won. Then Seles teamed up with Bahrami and Navratilova with Nastase and they played 4 games and a tie-break (at 2-2 -- it was late by that time! ;)) which Navatilova and Nastase won.

I think it would be great for the tour and many fans if Monica made a comeback. She's in great shape these days, but chances of her winning Wimbledon are verry very slim.

I just realized the last time I posted this much was right before we closed our forum last year in Dec. Only Monica could bring me back to forum life again -

Wow! She looks great! In fact she looks in better shape than ever!
R&J, do you have any idea of whether she is thinking about a comback? I definitely hope she is...

I think she could be quite dangerous.. :D

She looks just great...my all time favourite WTA player..just totally love Monica and she looks in fabulous shape...
Pity it's not 5 years ago and she would be a threat on the main tour still... i'm not sure if i want her to make a comeback now although in my "fantasy" she would have a dream run at Wimbledon and fill in that missing piece of the puzzle... sigh.....

Hey Ronny...I saw her at an exhibition earlier this year(river oaks) and i'm wondering if you saw what I saw...her movement was good, she was still tkaing the ball early, and her strokes we're stil lvery well hit and powerful...she wasn't grunting as much, but her serve needed some work.

Yes we were there in April - and your summary sounds about right from what I remember.

In New Orleans she was serving better than she did in Houston. Which is probably why she won this one in straight sets.

as much as I'd like to see Monica back and successful I think it's highly doubtful she's ever going to win Wimbledon. the closest she got at her peak was a demolition in the final against Graf and it's only slam she was consistently upset early in after her comeback.
