Since the spring hardcourt season she has played TWO!! tournaments outside the slams....making a total of 5 events since March.Dam that really sucks, even more because she has done well in about every tourney but 2(Paris and Charleston/US Open).I think if she played a "normal" schedule she'd still be in top 10,poor girl.

 I didn't even realize it.
Perhaps she's busy with her school work? She still attends school, right?

Yeah - I think she'd be in top 10 as well if she hadn't picked up her injuries. But we can't undo what's happened and there really is no use speculating with ifs and wouldas now. I just want to see her get back to playing - and winning of course. Once that happens - the rankings will take care of themselves and she'll be back up there.

Unfortunately for Nicole, she was diagnosed with gladular fever right after Wimbledon and had to miss the entire US Open Series. She's had a rough year with injuries and illnesses (she also had wrist tendonitis during the clay season). If she had been healthy thoughout the season she most likely would be ranked in the top ten.

She's got a pretty nice fall schedule so hopefully she can make up for her lack of play during the indoors. :)

Shame  Well hopefully she can make up for the lost time in the indoor season :)

I hope she will win Stuttgart, Moscow and Linz and reach TOP 10 again... I think she deserves to be at least TOP 8 and qualify for YEC and she could do that but there was right wrist tendonitis and mild form of glandular fever.. so we have to wait for next season

I'm not going to pretend I like her but she has been unlucky with injuries and illnesses and deserves the chance to show what she can do healthy for a year. I hope next year goes better for her healthwise.

Yep.

She's made at least the QF at 5/6 biggest tournaments (slams and Miami/IW).

SF @ Australian Open (l. S. Williams)
QF @ Indian Wells (l. Kuznetsova)
QF @ Miami (l. S. Williams)
QF @ Roland Garros (l. Jankovic)
QF @ Wimbledon (l. Ivanovic)

IW is the 6th best tourney :tape: Prizemoney maybe but not in quality opposition ;)

this is good record.. since she went on her 3 tournament streak a few yrs ago i have always thought Nicole would b top 5 player and i think if not for injury she could have made a Ana like rise this year to the top levels of the game.. Good luck nicole in 08

Nicole needs to rest and recover from whatever was bugging her,but she is about to be overshadowed by a new breed of players like szavay, tamira, radwanska and olaru.
