Does that mean that the potential semifinal will be Russia vs USA? That match up is always the semi and never the final which is a shaaaaaaame.

 Russia and Germany should be *fairly* easy then...OK Israel have Shahar (assuming she plays), but then kinda no one who could beat any of the top ranked RUssians...and Germany have umm... Muller? I guess Petkovic would play? But even if WS do't play, USA should still win. ;)

No, because they are not in WG1, but in WG2 (I believe) - they had to play Euro-African qualifying this year in Bulgaria.

Yes but you gonna face our 10,000 loyal fans that would come because they thougt that Sharapva is coming! But in any case the stadium will be full because of Shahar...

Let's go Israel...

Unfortunate draw for Russia. Playing in Israel is a bad idea itself, not to mention it's right after AO.
And holding Fed Cup in the Olympics year makes no sense, imo.

 Why exactly? They do't cancel Davis Cup coz of Olympics...I don't think there's anything wrong with having Fed Cup every year. Not that many players can play Olympics anyway, and alot of top players don't bother to play Fed Cup most of the time either. ;)

Well. Talk about be careful what you wish for. All Shahar said is she doesn't care WHO they'll get, she just want to play it at home (it's been 11 years!)

So we got Russia at home. Unfreakingbelievable.

Actually, I think Shahar has far better chances against Anna, Maria and Sveta (she did beat Sveta and Anna before, and Maria - who knows what you get with her) than against Venus, Serena or Lindsey.

Then the doubles point, it's not impossible, just unlikely.

I wonder the same.
If no one of Russia's top-player come there I won't blame them. It would be a wise decision for them.

China ousted Belgium from the World Group I with a 4-1 result. With Clijsters gone and Justine not playing there isn't much left :

Ah. Well, in that case. I would worry :)

The Russians has so much more firepower than we do, players wise - you gotta play with the hand you were dealt, in our case - it's a home match. They can deal with some cheering on DF or whatever, Anna did it quite well in NY with a crowd support firmly behind Shahar.

I really hope to be there, should be awsome!

Oh I'm gonna be there for sure... no matter who will come to Israel (hope Elena & Maria K will come) Israeli fans are so hungry for tennis and for Shahar and I'm sure the crowd would affect the matches results (most of the crowd is the football's fans and they are very noisy!)...

WTF??? England's natinal football team was here so why Kuznetsova can't? In February CSKA Moscow FC lost to Maccabi Haifa in Tel Aviv, and they are Russian as same as Anna and Nadia...

As long as you don't leave here and don't know how quiet is here (thank god) for the past few monthes you are not allowd to say such a thing...

I'm sure that is the situation here will stay the same I and all of the Israeli tennis fans gonna have fun! We don't have a WTA or ATP tournament here so the Davis (Chile is coming next week) and Fed cup are our only opportunities to see top players here in Tel Aviv!!!

There is no WAR here if you didn't notise. The tie will be played here. Full stop.

You are probably not aware.. Last few years,at about the same time Russians and Ukranians have an early season soccer competition between their top teams which it happens .. in Israel..
So, we'll play in Israel, no question about it. It though may be too cold for outdoors..

When the draw for next year for Russia was announced, Kuzy started a prayer saying ' please, please, not in Israel!!!!!!!' and then they go in Israel. So she laughed, looked at MaSha amd told her 'you'll go there, I won't' :D

In USA? No way the German will win that

Actually it just depends on if Venus or Serena shows up, if both do then they have 0 chance. If 1 does then they have about a 20% chance of winning. With neither they have about a 75% shot.
