Did anyone catch that. Announcers pointed out that she was apparently pulling for Djokovic. Just speculating, but that could be a pretty nice tennis couple.

Here from Novak's post match interview

Q. Maria Sharapova was in your box and also Robert De Niro. What are those two relationships with you? Somebody had to ask.

NOVAK DJOKOVIC: Yeah, I was expecting that question on the first place (laughter).

No, let's not go too much with Maria. It's just a friendship we have. It was nice from her to come and support me. As well, Robert, he was yesterday on the match, and today.

I mean, it's amazing feeling to see such a successful people, you know, in my box supporting me, playing with me I can say, living every emotional moment. It's great. It's great.

Q. What does she think of your imitation?

NOVAK DJOKOVIC: She said she's going to kill me. Of course, she accepted it on the right way. Of course, she found it funny, not offended.

always wanted to know what she thinks about his imitations

Anyway, I was watching the men's final on the side above Novak's box when I see this blonde haired girl who looked so much like Maria from the back. I'm like, wth, that couldn't be Masha.  Of course, as everyone knows it was her. Kinda weird to see her there and in Novak's box. Before I knew it, I was watching Maria more than the match. She was cheering for Nole but was clapping for Fed as well. She reminded me much of her dad cheering sometimes. lol....Anyway, nice to see her, but really, she should leave Novak to Ana. Djokovic and Ivanovic look cuter together. ;) At least, Masha is getting ready for her role as cheerleader next weekend at Fed Cup. Oh, she better be there! :)

I dont think their is any romantic link between them, Maria, like alot of players ATP or WTA, just wanted front row seats for a final between 2 great players.... she probably just used some influence to get a seat in Nole's area

federer's area already has enough celebs every year

of course knowing she'd get some 'exposure' was a bonus as well, after losing in R3 .. she just wants to remind everyone she's still around :p

:tape: It isn't at all possible that the money grubbing Serbs may have asked Maria to join them for the match, seeing as she's a good sport about Novac immitating her? He gets attention from her being a "fan". It raises his status, if anything.
It speaks volumes-- Maria being at this match led to a series of questions during Novac's interview. People may not have even noticed if he was watching her match.

Nico_E

Sure...
plenty of times players come out and watch big matches....... Djokovic watched Ivanovic's RG final, Hingis watched Federer in the past and Davenport and Serena watched him in the AO final - but i guess sitting in the players box is more 'personal' now that i think about it.

remember last year was the biggest one of all - Tiger Woods in Fed's area.

Maria must be a Novak fan, tennis fan that is.
he already has a GF.

I never really heard it to be honest. She's been based in the states since the time she was 7. Even people who came over years older don't have discernible accents. But yes, it was her real voice in that 'dolce' commercial.

I'm a Djokovic fan. I know about this "supposed" switching to British citizenship and it was pure bullshit. The Djokovic family only contacted the LTA because they wanted the Serbian tennis organization to actually devote time to tennis and improve their facilities. Maybe you should do a little more research.

That's bullshit. They were in contact with the Brits because there'd be so much more money readily available for Novac. If you think it was just an empty threat to a federation of a poor, war- stricken nation, then go on deluding yourself.

well it's also deluding yourself if you believe in all that "money reason", there are more reasons for brits and americans to chase nole and his brothers than anything else. so spinning that news in media is good way to do it , for starters. and it's not really about the money, it's a lot more if he would move to uk and take their citizenship (and his brothers/family), and that said just from nole's point of view.

1) No one gives a shit about his girlfriend.
2) They showed Sharapova every freaking game of the match. They showed De Niro once or twice. I wasn't comparing their relative fame (read my post). De Niro is more famous. But it's a bigger deal that Sharapova was there. It was unexpected. It started rumors, speculation, and made Nole look like the new stud of the ATP. And given their attempts to make money, It isn't absurd to assume that the Djokes liked Sharapova being there for more reason than one.

Maria Sharapova helped Novak Djokovic get over his U.S. Open final loss to Roger Federer Sunday by hitting Unik's karaoke party at Downtown Cipriani. Feeding rumors of romance, the tennis duo dueted on "Love Is in the Air." (The cozy pair partied into the morning with Stavros Niarchos, Michelle Rodriguez and Roberto Cavalli.) Elsewhere around the tennis courts, Chris Everett and Greg Norman seem to be freer with their affection now that the golf god's multimillion-dollar divorce is wrapping up. The couple held hands Sunday at the Open.

U.S. Open runner-up Novak Djokovic insisted in a post-game interview that he and Maria Sharapova are only friends, after she was spotted cheering for him in his box at Arthur Ashe Stadium. But The Post's Braden Keil reports that the two showed up together that night at Wakiya in the Gramercy Park Hotel. They mostly missed the opening-night party for the chic Chinese eatery and such celebs as Robert De Niro, Simon Le Bon, Donna Karan, Jeremy Piven, Beth Rudin DeWoody and Nobu Matsuhisa. But Djokovic and Sharapova then went to the lounge above Downtown Cipriani, where they sang karaoke duets until 5 a.m. to tennis pros Heinz Haas and Tim LoBello and models Ana Beatriz and Elsa Benitez.

of course they talked about it, it's obvious what is on the table money wise(big market+superstar status etc.). the thing is that monica seles for some reasons took american citizenships, those same reasons exists today too, serbia actually had the hardest time after monica left. so , since you love her , you should know that , and not saying that nole is just selling himself out. unfotunately it's very reasonable to emigrate from serbia and i'm so happy that none of our three players haven't done that so far!
or here is some example: if nole were form france or germany he wouldn't even think about it ...

sad thing but true, and you should know at least part of what i'm talking about since you like monica :(

I'm sure they managed to sing a lot of songs if they stayed to 5am, but of course mentioning a love song is much more interesting to the media

Anyway, I can't think of a more sociable and easy-going top ATP player than Novak, same goes for Maria, so I'm not at all surprised that they hang out together especially considering they are the same age, but that's all there is to it...

Well the difference is that Monica isn't Serbian. She's Hungarian and really doesn't give a damn for the former Yugoslavia.
During the war, it meant nothing but hardship and death threats for her (the reason she often played under no flag). She just liked America better and had already been here for years and years before she became a citizen. And now Monica is a citizen of USA and Hungary, so...
