that being a top professional tennis player requires dedication and is a full time job. No matter what they say about working there way into grand slams if they played more they may have easy first round matches like Henin and Sharapova and then when the are pitted against the big players they may be able to raise their games sufficiently. With this play when I want attitude I cant see them challenging Henin for top anytime soon.

Do you think they don't know that already? They have missed so much time because of injuries. That information has always been available, people just don't want to listen. They want to pretend like they care more about other things and are wasting their time. Don't believed the biased commentators, their dedication has been self evident.

So how did the easy rounds help Sharapova.
I am sick and tired of people saying that they are not dedicated. No one can question how hard Venus has worked to get to this point. Sometimes because of injuries they just can't get the right type of preparation. Even with their limited preparation, I think they did well.

You talk about them as if neither of them have ever won a major title. Obviously that is not true.

They know what they are doing.

They are dedicated. Venus especially proved that this year. Serena just needs to lose weight and she'd be fine.

I think Venus is very dedicated to the sport. Hasn't she played more than Henin in recent years?

Venus is dedicated, Serena less cause she tends to be more interested in other activities as well.

I also think that Venus has less ego problems and that is a quality to compete more often even when choosing to enter a Tier II. She tends to enter more tournaments even the lowest one no matter if she looses or wins, just to play and improves herself. She just is more professional and acts as if whatever the results, she learned from them and still go for the next tournament. Despite all that was said about her game she never gave up and keeps on playing the best she can wether in Tier II or in Slams. She has the best professionally positive attitude of the two towards the sport as a whole, keeping on playing and not letting her ego stop her even after several losses.

A last word : just because they are sisters doesn't means that we always have to talk about them as a single entity. They are very different, personality wise, game wise and the way they manage a loss which is determinant in the way they embrace further tournaments.
