View Full Version : Another year, another set of failures...

... for Russia - the country set to rule women's tennis.

In 2005-2007 (3 years) they've managed to fill 4 finals positions and won 1 (Sharapova at US Open 2006).

4 finalists' positions in 3 years compared to 5 in 2004.

With Myskina finished, Dementieva following her out the door and Maria in a career threatening slump, the future looks precarious for Russia.

They may do well in Fed Cup when the top players don't turn up but it seems like they're really slipping.

Thoughts?

There are 3 Russians in the top 5, and their combined age is 62
