well, I don't think saying Henin-Hardenne is that bad. it's just a habit ... sometimes I do it too when I type her name ...
I knew it would happen to someone someday after the name was changed back to Henin. but hilarious that it is in the USO ceremony

BTW was it the same guy?

Vamos.

I noticed her laughing at something he said but I didn't even notice he said Hardenne:tape:...that is awful.

Wth is Christine?

Christine.

At least Dick corrected himself. I think the guy in 2003 really thought her name was Christine. I felt bad for her (and Dick) :o

When Justine won her first USO, the guy presenting the trophy called her Christine instead of Justine.

Thats just terrible. Im sorry...everyone knows she is just Henin now. UNACCETPABLE

Vamos.
Sep 9th, 2007, 02:03 AM
Christine is far worse then.

that is ridiculous. How do you get Christine from Justine? :o...that is just ludicrous. Hardenne is a slip of the tongue/memory from something that was formerly correct. Christine is just from NOWHERE.

I think Hardenne is worse coz they should have known her by now.
Christine was still acceptable coz that was the first time she won there and usually they have no idea who the player is(outside of USA).;)

I didn't even notice he said Hardenne until he corrected himself. I'm used to hearing it said both ways.

Dick's worse. At least the guy who called her Christine was a money man, not a sports person.

 I watched it but didn't noticed that slip. How embarrassing. :o But I still think Christine is worse. At least Justine used to have "Hardenne" in her name before. As someone posted, "Christine" came out of nowhere.

After she's been around all these years, you'd think Dick would know better :help:

"Christine" is worse....

at least Hardenne was once part of Justine's name, but Christine IS NOT Justine, who the heckisthat?! lol....

but its nice to see she laughed at "Hardenne"....but an Emmy to Dick Enberg for the script.

When I heard Dick said "Henin-Hardenne", I was like 'Wait, when did she remarried Pierre again?"

But that's better than calling Justine as "Christine"... imagine if your name was Andy, and they called you "Mandy" :tape:

I don't think it was a big deal at all that he said Henin-Hardenne. She obviously wasn't offended by it and as mistakes go, it's an understandable one. I dunno about anyone else, but it took me ages to start calling her Henin-Hardenne, nevermind remembering that she was just Henin again. :p

It's Christine Henin-Hardenne the 2003 and now the 2007 US Open Champion!

Ah, they're both pretty bad mistakes.

She'll have to win in 2008 so maybe someone can get her name right at the USO. 3rd time's the charm.

I think Henin-Hardenne is worse. I mean, it must have been a big deal for her if she missed the Australian open because of the breakup. Now she has to be reminded when she wins the US Open

Just ridiculous

Definitely Henin-Hardenne. I'm pretty sure when he said it she had the bitter image of finding PY riding a stud.

Q. Considering how far you've come this year, all the success you've had, what did hearing your name mispronounced on court sort of make you feel?

JUSTINE HENIN: No, I don't care about that. It's been a big part of my life. I have to accept it. I wasn't ‑‑ that was okay for me. I heard it, but that was okay.

Q. Did it make you realize how far you've come in the last few months?

JUSTINE HENIN: Yeah, maybe. But I didn't think that much on that at that time. I just wanted to enjoy every moment. It's been a little mistake, but it doesn't change anything to my joy tonight.
