Wimbledon and Australian Open were the best finals. I don't know how anyone can say otherwise.

The fact that the most games won in a final by the loser was 5 really speaks to how crappy the finals were this year. Not enough games to even get a "set."

Let's hope 2008 brings some more competitive finals.

Probably Wimbledon, because it was the most competitive. Serena's incredible performance in the AO final would be enough to merit it as the best too though, IMO.

I voted AO cause we had the chance to enjoy an almost perfect performance from Serena

All 4 were stinkers unfortunately. :o

Wimbledon - cause Marion had a go.

Definitely no classic Slam finals this year.

We were spoiled by the 2005 Wimbledon final.

I'd say AO coz Sharapova was beaten in such a style.;)
But since then Serena

AO Final. That was the most dominant performance in a final this year.

Easily Serena in Australia. Nothing else had anything special or eye-catching. Serena's display in Australia was unreal.

Australian. If only for the looks Serena was giving and those outright zooming winners. I don't care which 2 players it was. If the player did the exact same thing Serena did and the other did the same thing Sharapova did I would vote AO. Brutality. The way Sharapova looked so dejected. ;(

The Australian Open was a stunning display of one hell of a beatdown.

Agreed. Marion gave it her best shot in the Wimbledon final. Oz was sort of compelling just seeing how much of a beating Serena ended up giving Masha.

But no classics this year.

i'd AO too beacuse sharapova was ranked world no 1 and serena was ranked world no 81 at that time.
World no 81 crushing world no 1. (i mean williams just played one warm up tournament before us and was barely at her best. it was amazing to see serena defeat no 1 sharapova.)

AO Final by far. That beatdown was delicious  But more importantly,Serena's dedication to Yetunde  :)

Australian Open. It was fun to watch Serena play her absolute best.

Serena played UNBEATABLE tennis in Melbourne. To strike the ball like that in a GS Final is out of this world. Superb. Definitely deserves the vote.

If I have to choose one it is Wimbledon, which was closest.

But I would rather go with RG & US Open because of the winner :D

I guess it really depends on who you ask. Williams fans will answer Wimbledon and AO, and Justine fans will answer FO and USO.

I guess the fans of anyone else don't really care. :p

All 4 GS Finals this year stinks. Either it's a one-sided match, or one of the players go into total meltdown :tape:

Hoping for better Finals next year.

the Australian Open because Serena didn't just notch a win, but she made an emphatic statement. Not just about herself, but about Sharapova and the rest of the field. Interesting way to start off 2007.

AO. Great tennis from Serena the underdog.
RG was pathetic, made even worse by the fact that I thought it had the potential to be really competitive.
Wimbledon was always going to be bad, same with US Open.

It seems like our most competitive finals have been between Americans (AO 2003, Wimb 2003, AO 2005, Wimb 2005) or between Belgians (AO 2004)!

AO. Even though it was a onesided, but Serena was on fire and Sharapova didn't play THAT bad at all (aka Ivanovic and Kuzzie at RG and US Finals)

Best finals were the AO and Wimbledon finals. Maria and Marion actually fought hard, whereas Ana and Sveta didn't believe they could win and rolled over for Justine. Ana was just happy to make it to the final and didn't have any belief like Marion, who was so disappointed in losing.

Most Competitive: Wimbledon
Most Impressive: Australian Open

* I was so glad to see Ana make the French Open final, but the match itself was terrible. She allowed herself to become too overwhelmed by the occasion.

Worst Slam Final: Roland Garros

I'm going to say Australian Open. Not because Serena is my favourite but because in all of the other finals, in my opinion, the winner was obvious. Henin wasn't gonna get beaten on the clay or by Kuznetsova who she has beaten before, and Venus wasn't gonna get beaten by Bartoli, even though Bartoli is a great player.

At the Australian, I admit that I was worried, even though like with all the others it was one sided, at least the winner wasn't obvious before the match had even started.

Nothing was better than watching Serena lay the smackdown on Sharapova.
