Come on, number 1 vs number 2 is this?

This should be the less viewed final ever.

Sorry but just because a few Russians don't live up to the hype doesn't mean the WTA sucks.

Nobody can win a set against Henin on hardcourt...

That rules, no?

In that case so does the ATP

Federer (1) Davydenko (4) H2H 10-0

Both the men's semifinals were terrible. If I was at the Open I would demand my money back.

One thing's for sure: the men's final with Federer and Djokovic won't stink anywhere near as bad as this women's final.

:worship::worship:I can't wait but I hope Fed bagel Nole so the commentators can shut up.

Don't be so sure - watch their match at AO this year. Fed killed him.

No. If you say: The GS finals sucked cause none of them was near of being a little bit tight; I agree, but saying WTA sucks is really idiot.

They need to speed up non clay surfaces and put a cap on racquet weight/technology. You'll see better tennis in the WTA.

Not really: tennis can be an oddity.
You have one dominant player in either men's and womens - you tend to see a lot of one-sided beat-downs in the big finals. This has been true through through all the eras ....

Exactly what I anticipated, a shitty, one-sided final not worth watching. Oh, I admit to checking the score 3-4 times, but Kuntzy never even made it interesting. I hate Justine Henin with every fiber of my being, but she is a great player and even I cannot deny it. But in order to get high ratings, women's tennis needs a Venus, Serena, or Sharapova in major finals because they are not just great players, they are stars.

I don't care how many titles she wins, Justin Henin will never put asses in the seats they way Williams and Sharapova do. You can bet your bottom dollar this will be one of the lowest rated grand slam womens finals in history. It was truly a pathetic USO for the women.

I think the lopsided matches (particulary in finals), e.g. 60-61, 61-63, 62-60, etc, we've seen so often in the women's tour is becoming a problem. It takes all the air out of a tourney and turns it into an anti-climax. I'm all for equal pay for equal work, but these matches and the 2/3 winning margin are making me think twice.

I hope the WTA and ATP will make a shorter schedule for the tennis season. Having so many competitions is hurting the quality of the matches more than it is helping. With less tournaments per year, more emphasis can be placed on each match and hopefully less incidence of injury.

I long for the days of 2001 where all the stars were playing and you could tell they all hated each other  It was so exciting and was truly better than the men. The tables have turned, but we'll see next year.

ATP has been > WTA for a while. Fed. is dominating still but the quality of matches and depth is sometimes just phenomenal. You rarely see an errorfest.

WTA wouldn't "suck" as much though if we could have Henin, Venus, Serena and Mauresmo fit, healthy and match tough.

I thought the WTA was heading for big problems and I still do, but this year has actually proved to be more exciting than I expected. With the resurgency of Venus and Serena, and Henin back to her fighting best we've had some really exciting matches...unfortunately never in GS finals but normally in the two preceding rounds.

I think Jankovic is a breath of fresh air and along with Sharapova has asked some tough questions of the top three. If only Mauresmo and Hingis could come up with the goods then this year would've been great.

However I still persist that the WTA of today is nothing compared to ten years ago simply because there are too many players who are like clones. There isn't the wide range of styles and characters that there was then.
