View Full Version : I fear for Justine

This scenario has repeated itself a couple times before: 1. Justine plays tough in the QF, SF only to lose to a less skilled player in the Final (see, Wimbledon, Australian open etc). Sveta will be primed for the win.

If Justine lets this opportunity slip because of nerves, then she's a punk.

Exactly, and nobody is giving Kuznetsova a chance!

I thought the same with Bartoli ... Justine trashed her in Eastbourne & look what happened 2 weeks later at Wimbledon. This final will not be a walkover ...

I give Sveta a chance. However, this is Justine's time. This is the best Grand Slam tournament she has ever played imo. I doubt she will ever play one as well as this again, in the same way Serena never played a tournament as well as the 2002 USO again. This 2007 US Open Trophy has Justine Henin's name on it. She made sure of that before the tournament started.

Quite...yeah. With everything pretty much in her favor. But you never know, Svetlana has nothing to lose really and she's won it before. Still, It's Justine's match to win or lose. But omg :help: if Justine doesn't win it tonight (taking into account both their performances so far).

A lot of people were saying the same thing at Wimbledon, and look what happened there :tape:

Forget dumbass statements about Justine being a loser or punk, this is sport. One on one big occasions - weird and wacky things can happen baby!

Sveta is good enough and has enough game to take it to the Belgian favourite.

Justine rarely do the same mistake after the last one. she missed that opportinity in Wimbly, she took the time to think about it. I don't think she will repeat it tonight.

The same thing happen in Miami. She said that on belgian TV, she wanted to win so bad over Serena in Rolland Garros because of what happen to Miami where she lost her nerves and didn't think that she could beat her. The same was said when she wins the championships last year: she wanted to beat Amelie who beat her twice that year because she basically don't want them to have an hold on her emotionally.

She said yesterday that she also consider this final with a taste of revenge because of the last time when Svetlana beat her and that she wants another slam other than the usual one of Rolland Garros.

I don't think she will let that happen, she has extra motivation for not letting that happen. But once never know.

Come on her name is probably already engraved in that trophy!

I agree with you. Henin would have really benefitted from a day off after beating the Williams sisters back to back. I think Kuznetsova will wear down Henin and win the 2007 U.S. open final in 3 sets 4-6 6-4 6-4.

If Justine plays well and loses, there's nothing wrong with that. But if she's not able to overcome nerves and loses, that's a different story. I'm confident though...she was obviously nervous as hell yesterday (do we really think those breathing problems were anything but anxiety attacks?), but still managed to overcome them.

I'm not 100% confident either. For me the problem would be more physical than psychological. She has previously collapsed physically at the latter stages of tournaments and the 2 Williams matches must have taken so much out of her. Good thing is that she didn't play right before the US. But who knows.

If Sveta wins she ties Sharapova with 2 majors and a final.
And she is ranked ahead of Maria.

Nothing is really definite in tennis, until the match is played. If Sveta plays like she did in the semis, Jusine will win easily. But if Sveta plays her best consinstantly tonight, she has a chance to win. I don^t think Justine will be nervous playing Sveta as she has a 14-2 H-H against her. I really want Justine to win, but would not be devastated if she didn^t. I would be very dissappointed though-lol!!

I hope she's had a good night sleep, instead of being awake till 4 AM, like she told.

Please. It's not like Justine is playing Maria here. I mean, Justine is better than Maria, but Maria still believes she can win each time she faces Justine (which is why Maria took advantage of a burnt-out Justine last year). Justine is better than Svetlana too, but the difference here is that Svetlana doesn't believe she can beat Justine. She even has admitted to it.

Justine hasn't played a warm-up event right before a GS this time, so I'm confident her body will hold in the final. Allez Juju, get that 7th crown! :yeah:

Maria would also have a YEC, more tier 1's, more overall titles...
