...the way she played the Us Open QF and SF, she will win more majors, and be a main rival to Henin. She HAS to continue to come into the net. Henin was just awesome on her passing shots today.

I agree.
Overall people fail to realize how close Venus was from winning this Usopen.
She is hitting the ball cleanly and playing with heart and moving well. She is definetly a top 3 player ATM, in fact for me she is the second best player in the world right now.

YEs! Yes! Yes! I said this in another thread. She came to net 55 times against Jelena & 35 against Henin. I PRAY she keeps this game. I enjoyed Venus this tournament more than ever even with the loss. Such aggression!!!

Me too, it ii the reason I was not too dissappointed after she lost. It has been close to three years since we saw Venus play this well and CONSISTENTLY. I am so happy for her, good things still ahead.

Agreed. Justine was just too good today. If you think about it, this is really the first time Venus has played a Hall of Fame level player at their peak since her comeback. This match was a good meter for her. It will definitely serve notice of what it's going to take to get back to the top.

I hate to sound retarded, but which comeback?

from her wrist injury in 2006 and early 2007. When she dropped to like 56 in the world.

I was definitely impressed with Venus' game. I expected her to hit many more unforced errors off of Jankovic's and Henin's gets, but she usually played it quite calm. The thing is, is that I don't think Henin will be able to play every match the way she played Serena and Venus this week. That's why I think this is the beginning of a truly exceptional rivalry.

i can see her winning 2 or 3 wimbledon titles before she retires.

yeah, its really fun to see venus in that kind of mood. playing well like this and putting her heart and mind to it. when she came back i didnt enjoy her matches too much except maybe charleston semi against jj, because it was full of drama and jj was involved . now there's more entertaining match-ups to come up again :) i hope she plays the YEC :)

p.s. still doesnt make me a fan of hers. its just that it mixes up the tour well in a positive way.

http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/687/dance3va2.gif Now of course I don't expect her to win them all , still her fans should be happy that she's come this far ( #9 baby) considering where she started the year ;)

Venus definitely has the fire in her belly again. She just needs to work on her serve and her consistency off the ground and I think she could do some damage in the next two years. I think her new boyfriend being an athlete has been a positive influence.

Venus's game is in transition, in construction right now. She's getting used to come to the net more and more. She's still sort of ackward and doesn't read so well the passings right now but she's improving everyday. Soon, she's gonna become a great volleyer, like Mauresmo is and I can swear it's gonna be bloody ugly, for the others

I don't think she'll be Mauresmo level, not having that feel at the net in the match didn't help, but she showed some variety. She just left some balls that she was able to play.

But i agree.

I think that Venus finally realized that she has to start improving her game and I think she has done it since the last injury. Her wrist problem made her develop her slice and her anemia problem make her try to finish the point quicker in the net.

I always heard that she could a great serve-volley player if she worked on it. I guess we might see that happening more and more.

Anyway, I am very proud of Vee. Once again she played very well, she was definitely the biggest challenge to an inspired Justine and she clearly top 3 material playing like this. I just hope she keeps enjoying herself on court!

yep the future is looking very bright for Venus. She just got an unlucky draw here having to run into a red-hot Henin before the finals. I'm still impressed with her quarter-final win and the guts she displayed to be able to pull through that one :worship:
