I just was feeling dizzy, a little sick to the stomach. Was just having some energy problems. I'm not really sure what's wrong with me," Venus said. "But, you know, credit to her for playing well."

Later, the Williams' mother, Oracene Price, who also serves as their coach, revealed that Venus found out she has anemia after winning Wimbledon in July and has been taking medicine for the condition.

Price said her older daughter felt lightheaded and weak during some matches at the U.S. Open, "like the ground was moving."

"You don't know what's going on," Price said, adding that she wants Venus to get fully checked out.

ohh my god no i understand why many of vee losses comes from fatigue i never knew she has that condition

Richard Williams was so convinced that Venus was going to defeat Henin today that he announced it to the press yesterday.

I don't buy the excuses, especially after Oracene and Richards earlier statements about Team Henin. The only element missing from O and R's post-match comments are the cheating accusations. What happened to that?

What excuse? I read that weeks before the US Open that Venus is anemic. She did look drained in the match today. Because of this Venus has endurance issues.

Anemia goes undetected in many people, and symptoms can be vague. Most commonly, people with anemia report a feeling of weakness or fatigue, general malaise and sometimes poor concentration. People with more severe anemia often report dyspnea (shortness of breath) on exertion. Very severe anemia prompts the body to compensate by increasing cardiac output, leading to palpitations and sweatiness, and to heart failure.

Those fast players with great defensive skills like Jankovic and Henin took alot out of her. They can run all day. I think thats why its easier for Venus to beat the likes of Sharapova and Ivanovic because their much slower and she can end the rallies quicker. I hope she can get help in getting more energy in matches.

This is old and I wonder if her being anemic was her problem...who knows but I thought Venus found out she was anemic after her last 3 set loss to Jelena at the French or after..not the wimbledon.

I heard she had to eat lots of meat for iron. I have to find that article.

Okay I'm reading now that she's had anemia for awhile like in 2000. Not sure what's going on.

I think shes taking new pills these days... which, everyone knows medication has side effects. fatigue could be one of them...
