"I don't want to think about it," said Kuznetsova, who got off to a horrible start in her all-Russian semifinal against No. 6 Anna Chakvetadze.

How horrible? Chakvetadze won the first set despite hitting only one winner.

IS THAT FOR REAL??? :tape:

Yeah. One winner and nine unforced errors.

Sveta had something like 19 unforced errors and six winners. :help:

It's true.

All Anna had to do in the first set was put the ball back in court and wait for Sveta to make one of her 21 unforced errors. Not the best set she's ever played. :tape: Sadly roles reversed after that.

Yeah, the match was pretty horrifying to watch as there were maybe about three points where both players were playing well at the same time. Chaky completely went away after winning the first set and going up 1-0, 40-0 on Sveta's serve and losing the game. I don't think she hit a forehand into the court the rest of the second set. The first couple of games of the third set were decent, but Chaky went away pretty quick. I think her attitude is a bit suspect. Too bad, she's a talented player and I don't know if she'll ever have such a good shot at making a GS final again.

Yes, one winner. Shows you how badly Kuz played !! Someone only needed one winner to beat her.

Sveta has been in some awful matches. The loss to Golovin was a worse level than this. And the New Haven final was like a 10k in quality.
But Sveta can play some quality tennis also.

That's BS. In the New Haven final, Szavay hit like 10 winners to 15 errors. Against Sveta, that is NOT 10K quality...

Regardless, Sveta got herself together and won with relative ease. Her chances are decent for the final. I'd say 30%. If you think about it, that's a better chance than Ana had at the French and Marion had at Wimbledon.

The New Haven final was brutal. Szavay pushed and Sveta couldn't keep it in play.
This was much better than that. They were long side to side rallies in this one.
