View Full Version : Bottom Half Deteriorated To Nicole & 7 Dwarves. Now Only 8 Dwarves :help:

the top half has all the players that should be in the R16 there (Bammer replaced Dementieva) ... dream matchups for the whole rest of the tournament (Venus v Ana, winner v Jelena, Serena v Juju, mouthwatering SF)

we are all excited to see new names and faces breaking through but from a sponsor or TV network's perspective, the bottom half is just Devilova and the 7 Eastern European Dwarves (no offense to Dwarves) ... nobody in the USA knows who any of these players are :help: yet there will be two night sessions featuring these players (Tuesday night R16 and Thursday night QF) ... I bet all the TV executives are hoping that Devilova somehow pulls through so they can hype her from now on and make her the new Sharapova, put her on every night session they can :o

Nicole
Julia - Dopey  (she got doped by a Christian)
Agnes - Doc :tape:
Igor - Grumpy
Vika - Bashful
Anna - Sneezy (she is always teary eyed)
Tamira - Sleepy
Aga - Happy

Yea pathetic, rest of the bottom half looks like a Tier 2/3 field. The top half should be all quarterfinal matches lol

Nicole's not even in the fourth round yet. She could lose to Peer.

I hope that doesn't happen

While I am happy for some of these upsets, the bottom half IS pathetic. One of the Williams and Serbians should have been in the bottom half. Venus vs. Ivanovic deserves more than a R4!

this must be the worst draw on a GS in a very very long time, all the players that were in a good form and are real contenders for the tittle were placed in the same part. with this kind of draw Maria sharapaova should have breezed trough to the final...

no
if one of them were there and advanced to the QF, SF or F, most of the Asian population in the USA and Asia would watch as history is being made ... Perfect exposure for sponsors leading to the Beijing Olympics ... and a Chinese (or American or anyone else) would offer a contrast from the entirely eastern European field

ok stop with this! the bottom half is not what everyone expected but the players there have played the better tennis when they needed to! as for so many of the main 'contenders' bein in the top half, well blame the rankings being the way the are! oh and also the part time sisters sorry william sisters! there not ranked where they should be because they dont compete enough, so this could happen in alot of slams in the future!

This tournament is AWESOME! So much young talent breaking through in the bottom half of the draw! This is definitely the best case scenario of what could have happened: Maria screaming her way to the finals. Now she will be off my TV and we can all kick back, relax, and have a good time! :aparty:

reality check :wavey:

nobody cares about Sveta :ignore:

as defending champ in 2005, she played her first match on Armstrong (was upset by Bychkova)

she walked through the grounds and nobody recognized her

Good luck to the 7 Eastern European Dwarves then. :rocker:

I fully expect the winner of Peer/Vaidisova to fall to Happy in the next round. I'm rooting for a Dopey v Happy semi. And may TV executives be damned. :rocker2:

True: I've done some research on this. A lot of these short Asian guys suffer from what is known clinically as "penis envy".

The bottom half rocks - I'm gonna be glued to it.

Oh yes, I fully agree. This has been the best, most exciting day of women's tennis this year without doubt. More importantly, it is also the most indicative of the future of women's tennis. And the future looks very bright indeed. Loving it.

There was an Asian cannibal who ate a tall blonde girl he invited to his place, thinking he will get her power if he consumes her flesh. piercey can be similar - he has a thing fall tall powerful blondes.

yeah Venus/Ivanovic, Serena/Bartoli could easily be QF. compared to some of the matchups in the bottom draw. This is why unbalanced draws can be really bad.

The rate the over 24s are wearing out the 8 dwarfs are pretty soon going to be half of the top 15.

Which may not be a bad thing as they have more energy than most of the over 24s have at present, without so many holes as some of the older players and with complete games.

What the WTA does need to do is to keep Patty and Martina out there - the kids are picking up an all court game and the value of understanding the game, angles, dropshots, lobs and slice by watching other people use it rather than just following he bash and miss school of the early 2000s.

Another crap thread from the usual crap poster.

People should be rejoicing at the amazing talent that made names for themselves today.

Congrats to all the winners.....

PS. Funny if they were all men's matches today it would be said that is how good the men's tour is but when lower ranked women do it, it's pathetic.......

Sorry I don't understand some of you. Why would you like to have always the same players in a quarterfinal, seminfinal etc.? Nothing is more boring than Top players always steamrolling their lower ranked opponents. That is really nothing spectacular to watch, no entertainement, no excitement, no hard fight and no balance.

Really really boring if we always would have the Top 8 seeds in the quartefinal and the Top 4 seeds in the Semifinal. In that case, every lower ranked player souldn't have faith and fighting spirit to reach the 2nd week of a Grand Slam. What a stupid idea!!

If you blame somebody, you shouldn't blame these young winners, but the losing Topstars like loudmouth Sharapova, unable to beat the lower seed player that day.

Recent Top players like Henin, Sharapova, Jankovic, Kuznetsova all were low ranked when reaching a grand slam quarterfinal for the first time. Sharapova and Venus even were outside the Top 10 when they reached their first slam final, and they both beat higher ranked players to get there. And it was good that way, thats tennis thats why it never get boring.
