Now with Sharapova out the final will be less intriguing because there will not be a big name player to face someone out of the top half... This might hurt the TV ratings that night unless a WS is in the final.. We Will See! I know the Open is hating to have the draw with one superstar at the bottom.. Would have been nice to have a Serb or WS in the bottom half.

It's a good thing. A bunch of unknown young players have the chance of a lifetime.

Don't worry this will still be a great open I'm predicting a Hings vs Vaidisova SF and Nicole will be in her first GS final i'm almost sure of it the top half is the tougher draw to predict it really depends if Serena vs Justine happens and the outcome to decide who will make it through that draw

i don't why some of you are complaining.

The bottom half of this draw had one more defending champion in it then the bottom half of the draw at the Australian Open this year.

Are you telling me that just because a player named Serena Williams is not in the bottom, this is a bust draw?

Says who?

Anyway, after having to swim through those sharks in the top half of the draw, that finalist would deserve an easier match.

The commentators (and many others) assumed that Sharapova would get to the finals easily and the finalist from the top half of the draw would be too tired to compete against her and she'd be holding up the 2K7 USOpen Trophy.

Well, it didn't work out that way at all.
