She was rolling through people ranked out of top 100, when the quality drastically changed. She didn't know what to do. Looks like Vaidisova is going to make the quarters or more at all 4 Grandslams. Vaidisova is my pick to get to the final, but she'll lose there. Basically, whoever from the top half gets to the final is 99.99999999% the favorite.

Anna and Sveta have great chances to be in the final. A very exciting half.
Both halves are wide open.

Why do you care so much about what other people think, and the hype machine? Like people for who they are, not who other people make them out to be, or how famous they are.

Also, you can tell a lot more about someone by how they talk about other people, rather than how other people talk about them.

Oh god, I really must be depressed, I'm arguing with Morrissey. :o

Maybe Maria got a little complacent. Her difficulty curve at this tournament was kinda flat for the first two rounds and then all of a sudden she's up against someone decent and it's like she hit a brick wall. You need to build momentum into a slam otherwise you'll find yourself getting a shock. Maria needed someone who could test her even slightly early on, i.e. take more than one game off her per match.

That's why whoever gets through the top half will be in great form because they've got past all those difficult opponents.

if vaidisova and kuznetsova dont make the semis they should hold their heads down in shame. vaidisova should make the finals but the last couple of times ive seen her play kuzzy shes gone up a set and then self destructed (french open 06,indian wells 07). dont get me wrong azareka (who seems to be sporting the sharapova grunt), rwandska and szavay are all talented but nicole and kuzzy certainly have the weapons to beat all of them. however nicole could very play an error filled match and lose to peer.

Once again, Larry Scott doesn't run the Slams. (Though the WTA gets around a million dollars from each, as does the ATP. A deal that doesn't make much sense, the tours needing the Slams as much as the Slams need the tours).

In case of building form round by round, easy draw may be harmful but for later rounds, mainly SF/ F.
Maria lost in 3rd round, every top seeds has almost the same level first 2 rounds at GSs. So its not about the opponents she won 60 61.

But psychological, if she saw herself in the final just after the draw made, yes it can be very harmful at every rounds...

For me, its all about Aga's wise play and Maria's serve. Maria's big problem's: if she's not serving well she looks like very beatable when the oppenent's playing wise"

Is it safe to say that all these seeded players in the bottom half were jinxed with the unbelievably easy draw?

Is it safe to say that all these seeded players in the bottom half were jinxed with the unbelievably easy draw?

Actually they were jinxed with all the tough unseeded young players. Szavay, Paszek, and Azarenka are all very talented. Also Razzano and Morigami two of the tougher veteran unseeded players were in the bottom half. First week of the tournament was always going to tougher for bottom half because they had the tougher unseeded players. While top half only had to beat scrubs. Second week is where it gets tougher for top half.

Now that Nicole's out, I wonder if the organisers decide not to put any bottom half matches in the night session?!
