View Full Version : No respect for Anna Chakvetadze

She is the no. 6 in the world and yet plays every match on the back courts (Chak vs Mirza isn't a bad match). Yet, Vaidisova , the 13th seed plays on Arthur Ashe. :fiery:

Chakvetadze has more talent then Vaidisova. But well it wasn't about Vaidisova.

The USO organisers are doing a bad job putting Chakvetadze on the back courts. She deserves better!!

Agree. Mirza also has more talent than Peer come to think of it. Hey this match was good enough to be a WTA final in Stanford.

I can guess what will happen.

Sharapova will play 4 matches on Arthur Ashe, day and night. Then they will put Anna there in the QFs for the first time and say "go and play".

Poor Guppy. If she plays Sharapova she'll get on Ashe for sure.

Anyone who wants to see real tennis and not that ball-busher Vaidisova, and I'm not even a big fun of Chakvetadze..
I'm glad Vaidisova is on Arthur Ashe because she is against Shahar, but Chakki deserves much more then court 11 or 13.. I think the organizers hate her because she beat Venus.:fiery:

I think I don't care who they show as long as I can see some good tennis. I am not aware of either of them and I think it's good to be able to keep in touch with many different players for a change but I think yes. the women's tour is getting more and more interesting lately and I'm amused to hear some popl call it boring because it's wierd. I think I'm not fun with them but it's ok. I think I'm very amusing to watch the sport and the willimas sisters are great when they come back and I think they are going to be the players to watch out for. I strongly agree that they are the ones very good for the sport.

I'm sure they won't even put Anna-Patty (if happens) on Arthur Ashe - so much talent on one court!

How do you agree with nicole-shahar? One just returns from injury, the other had a terrible summer. You can imagine the quality. Sania and Anna both played well during USO Series.

Why wouldn't I agree? This match could be very interesting. Of course Nicole will win but Shahar won't give it away.
In a Nicole vs Anna clash I'd put my money on Nicole, she's just a better player

Actually, on Sat usually more compelling/interesting matches are scheduled during the day, so Anna was competing with Maria/Roddick/Roger.

I think you people are making too big a deal out of nothing here. I don't know why some people are so fussy about who are shown and who are not shown. Just relax. If you rfavorite players make it far enough, eventually you will get to see them play on TV. If not, that's too bad. Fortunately as a Williams fan, I have many chances to watch them on TV. I think it's good to be a fan of famous players.

Rankings don't matter as much as their actual popularity do they? I think the reason why they show the Williams sisters more is: they are Americans and they sell tickets. Got it?

It's unfair indeed, but Chakvetadze < Vaidisova for the US Open crowd, I think. Unfortunately.

i dont mind and i think chaky will be happy with that too, she can sneak through to the qtrs without fuss! pluss i've watched some matches on court 11 this week its nice and intimate the crowd are very close to the players! i realy hope she wins and patty does because if they both play well in the 4th round expect some amazing rallies! oh for those who say nicoles pretty i worry for them she looks so masculine facialy, shave her head and she be a hot guy!

Vaidisova is on Ashe for 2 reasons...she's a tall gorgeous blonde and they have to show here before in their mind what will be a mouthwatering match with Maria... I agree Anna should not be on Ashe but she should at least be on the Grandstand. She's pretty make no mistakes and she's #6 in the world. Remember it's not just the look because if that was true then Lindsay D. would have gone 10 years on court #19 in the early rounds.

Its some chakvetadze effect, sania alone was getting matches on grandstand and armstrong but now they are on court 11. I dont mind as its a court with TV coverage and I will see it live. so no problem for me.

Don't forget Chakvetadze along with Nadia and Elena put the usa out of Fed Cup and she also punished Venus in us open series !!! So the networks and usta are not happy with her !!!!!!!!!!! Anyhow I see her ousting Maria common looking Sharapova.

well vaidisova is defenetily more popular than anna, she achieved greater things like semis at AO and FO..but still I think anna should get at least the grandstand this time

What did Vaidisova win actually??? She's not even top 10 right now so don't know what you're talking about. She has a game as boring as Lindsay the only thing is that she's young Czech and gorgeous. I mean real goergous not like Sharapova regular blonde look...

It's probably because she's not yet a big name. She's still something of a debutant to the US crowd. First year that she's in the top ten. But this will quickly enough change.

I think it's not fair for Anna. She won 2 tournaments during the US series (Cinci & Stanford), she's number 6. She should be at least once on grandstand. They put Hantuchova on Grandstand for her first match but not anna. It's not normal:shrug:

It's just one example of disrespect amongst others with US Open organisers. There are unfair things for every GS but just more for this one. Everything is made for WS and Masha. And that's one of the reasons why european players feel incomfortable in general in the States, they are just ignored, no matter how good they are. If you're not a tall pretty IMG Nike blonde or an american, nobody cares? I'm not surprised some european players try to play as little tournaments as possible in the US.

I think u have to be a little more popular among the US crowds to get a stadium court. Anna hasnt become popular in US so the organisers are hesitating. Also sania got her first two matches in show courts. So they hav put this match in court11. Think it in that perspective.

She has a super draw to the quarters, and she's already played on Armstrong.

Anna's first round was on Armstrong because she was playing an American qualifier.

It's a shame she's not at least on Grandstand but I think this Court 11 is a little quieter than Court 13 where she had her second round. Chaky and Mirza are not that well known to mainstream American audiences so I guess that's behind the decision.

wel, to be honest i was a little surprised that vaidisova/peer got ashe but at the same time i'm glad.. who wants to see anymore of maria sharapova?! i certainly don't. give someone else a chance for once. i myself would've put chakvetadze/mirza on grandstand or court11. anna played on armstrong for her 1st round anyways.. and come to think of it so did sania against granville! BUT, if serena/bartoli isn't scheduled for arthur ashe i will be very angry.. so far the organisers haven't done a totally bad job, though, i don't agree wih hingis getting ashe for her 1st nd 2nd rounds

Anna is such a consistent high quality player that she's going to earn a fortune.
There's no rush to play early rounds on the big court, let her win a major first.

I had to search for some thread like this.
Of course, i don't agree with the thread title. I have respect for all players..
..but watching her game is just pathetic. I'm watching her match against Fran and she's just too flat. 1st serve speed around 162kph,hitting softly.. She's so unimpressive atm,no top5 game at all.
I think if Dementieva was there, she would do better..Chaky is under pressure and more an individual player than a 'team' player (like Lena or Fran)
When Dementieva makes mistakes, she hits really strong, but Anna can miss slow shots with no pace...
I'll go on to watch the match, hope Anna shows some good tennis.

Chakvetadze just hasn't done much in Grand Slams (barring the most recent one of course) and the Russian hype is pretty much gone and as much as I hate it, only Sharapova and at times Kuznetsova are really out there flying the flag in big tournaments. She'll get her time soon enough.
