I have no words for you Lena.

Ugly match from Lena, shit serving, too many unforced errors.

Sybille did the right thing, got every ball back and waited for Lena to make the error.

What an anti-climax.

bammer played well. controlling points and making elena hit backhands.

elena was horrible. she refused to attempt to dictate play and her shots just sat up for bammer.

Well that wasn't the real Lena out there and we havn't seen the real Lena in a long while and its pretty depressing  She's too good for these kind of losses/performances and it sickens me to think she could end her career without a slam with all her ability :awww:

All credit to Bammer she was as solid as a rock and thats all she had to be today.

Horrific performance. Elena has just crashed and burned at every slam this year.

As far as I'm concerned 2007 is over. Maybe she'll have a good 2008.

Frankly, though, the title of this thread reads like it was created by a 10-year old. I'm sure Elena is far more gracious in victory than some people around her are.

If you ask me Elena i tired shes not up for the fight anymore. Remember USO 04 that match against Capriatti....yeh well Elena is not that girl anymore.

She needs a break perhaps but I think her serve issues are just destroying now. Shes 25 either she makes a change and aims for the top again where she belongs.....or just becomes solid top 20 player who can ocassionallhy have a big win here or there i dunno which.

Bruno71
Sep 1st, 2007, 12:10 AM
There's no question something was lacking in Lena's performance today. Sometimes I question whether or not she has a great ability to adjust her game to the opponent. Sybille's lefty forehand is a perfect shot to play against Elena...it plays her backhand and takes away Lena's lethal inside-out forehand. That's what I saw in the 1st set, but then the coverage went away from the match so I don't know if that continued.

Anyway, Bammer is playing well and should play JJ tougher than their last 2 outings. Lena will rise again.

Josh.

blumaroo
Sep 1st, 2007, 12:15 AM
Another beatdown on her favorite surface in probably her favorite tournament. She'll pretty much be a top 20 journeywoman from now on. Only saw the last two games. It's hard to hit through Bammer if you don't have any strategy. At least her brainless hitting used to be consistent. Now more often than not, she'll make the error instead of her opponent.

Corswandt
Sep 1st, 2007, 12:28 AM
Since late 2005, Lena's game is increasingly likely to be off. And if Lena's ground game isn't working, there's nothing she can do since it's all she has, so the end result are these crushing losses. And that's fatal against the J. I. Chela of the WTA, who gives no free points away.

Total absence of any kind of tactical thinking as usual. By the end of the match, she was hitting into Bammer's BH, which is actually her better side.
