View Full Version : Justine needs one match at night to feel comfortable to play at night

I do not think it will happen before the Quarterfinal vs. Serena (likely).

Like the last year, she never played at night before the final, but Maria always played at night session.

Yes, if Justine loses to Serena, it's because she didn't get any night matches.

yeah, isn't it so unfair? USTA sucks!!! no wonder Juju doesn't like it there...:tape: :fiery: :tape:

Well she won't be playing at night until she plays Serena in all likelihood. If Venus and Ana both win today they'll play at night most likely for the 4R.

Yeah I thought about that, but Justine played night sessions in Toronto, so she has done it recently. :)

That is kind of unfair since everyone else's schedule has been accomidating for night play. But she's a champion and should do well anyway.

CBS wants the williams sisters during their daytime sunday afternoon coverage so they'll use them plus nadal if he's still in the event (esp. if he's facing henman), which leaves the night session for justine, jelena, or ana, hopefully, if your theory is true, justine will get the night on sunday

I don't know that CBS has that much pull. I can recall some pretty major matches played at night on USA when CBS had daytime coverage. Usually they put the best match on at night. I'm predicting Venus/Ivanovic.

They never give her a night match in the first week and she ends up losing the first night match she plays. :o

sadly they have a ton of pull, more than should be... cbs has the hit list of who they want to show on tv, for men, it's roddick/federer/nadal/blake (and they have to lose blake on sat because he's lowest priority), and for the ladies, it is serena/venus/maria, i guarantee maria will be afternoon on monday as well since CBS wants her...

i've predicted the CBS schedule for every day of the labor day weekend for the last 3 years, they are insanely formulaic, and that's why the schedule for tomorrow is already out, cbs told them who they wanted and the USTA provided it

Nope, you can almost bank on it that Ivanovic/Venus will be during the day. CBS has a ton of pull. They pick the best men's and women's match on the schedule and put them during its coverage. That's why Sharapova, Roddick, and Federer are playing during the day tomorrow.

It's so funny you posted this thread as I was JUST thinking about last year in Montreal when Sveta lost to Martina at night. She complained about not being used to the lights while Martina had already had night matches. At the time I thought it was sour grapes but now I realize she had a valid point. It is so different to play at night. I hope that JuJu gets the night session before the quarters (assuming both her and Serena get there ;) ).
Of course it would be hard to argue putting anything on the night session over Ana/Venus. :hearts: I can't wait for that match!!!!! (again assuming they both get there, LOL)
