Hingis plays a lot in double and in single. She has not enough energi left for single. She seems fall at 3rd round tomorrow.

well hingis is very smart, if she knows she's getting tired because of the doubles matches, i think she would retire from them..but on the other hand she has a commitment to daniela..

Hantu/Hingi is near to loose the double match now. Focus on singel Hingi.

I'm not so sure. Doubles is not really very tiring  I mean you barely run at all.

doubles doesnt take much energy at all.... Plus have you seen martina play doubs? shes always smiling and i think she views it as light heartened fun.... I dont think doubs will tire her out at all for singles...

Martina used to play singles and doubles all the time....

It actually improved her singles game from what I see.

keep in mind.... the players do train when they arent playing... I think Martina just uses the doubs to practice and work on things for her singles...

Pish posh. If you've ever seen Hingis practice, you'd be glad she stays fresh with doubles :tape:
She has her hitters feed limp balls all over the court, and she barely moves. She only hits powerfully for like 20 minutes.
Plus she just may be the best doubles player of all time, and she enjoys it. It should improve her game too. Her volleys have slipped a bit.

Venus is already 27... didnt she just win a GS?!?!?!?! Amelie is already 27? or is she 28? what does her age mean? you can go look up how old Davenport is.... didnt she just have a baby and is planning a comeback?

I think Martina doesn't like training much and would rather train in a live event than train in unreal conditions. But then again doubles is nothing like singles and vice versa. I guess she just enjoys playing doubles just like BJK.

Martina hates practicing. She'd rather play doubles for practice.

And did you come up with your conclusion that she was indeed tired?

Hingis is the smartest player in womens tennis - if she has problem then she will put out but at the moment i see no reason why she cant continue..

um yes, Venus and Amelie are in their late 20's, but hello! This thread is about Hingis playing both singles AND doubles. Is Venus playing doubles? Is Amelie? And yes, Davenport is planning a comeback, but in her comeback will she play doubles consistenly along with singles? The answer is no. Hingis is tired because she's playing doubles AND singles AND she is around 27 years old. So, bringing in Venus and Amelie's singles career is irrelevant because they do not play singles and doubles like Hingis does. Thus, Hingis being tired is perfectly reasonable.

In addition, Hingis needs to stay and play doubles with Hant at the US Open because Danka could really use the money. Her 1st round losses in her last 3 tournaments ain't filling up her bank account....

If I can manage to play singles and doubles every day for a week with my level of fitness I'm pretty sure Martina Hingis can. She's hardly running bloody marathons...

Doubles is completely different from singles... and it doesn't matter if her 'arms are tired'... the worry is if her legs are stiff or tired but you don't run that much in doubles anyway.
