The eh.... hardest part of Maria's draw!

OK so she has a super easy draw. Anyone want to comment on these possible match ups? These will be her biggest possible challenges!

Sharapova vs. Vaidisova
Sharapova vs. Kuznetsova
Sharapova vs. Petrova

The Kuznetsova/Petrova section is much easier.

Sharapova vs. Vaidisova would be interesting. I definately think Sharapova would win it but she would be pushed, maybe even to 3 sets.

Well, she's definitely showing everyone that she has a cake draw based on her last two matches.

Every seed has had a "cake draw" based on their past two rounds. The only one who can complain is Hantuchova and maybe Srebotnik.

hrmmm. I think Vaidisova will be her toughest match.... unless Hingis makes her way into that semifinal some how... I mean i know hingis is a long shot, but if hingis makes it to that semi i have a feeling she'll be just playing with a lot of fun and something special might happen....

But yeah Vaidsiova because she plays with no fear.... it should be a good match...

Is she capable of losing to any of those players? Yes.

Will she likely lose to any of those players? Nope.

Kuznetsova has the best shot of taking her down because she's the most consistent. You never know who will show up when Nadia plays, or if she'll even get there. Vaidisova is the least likely to take Maria down.

I think it would be interesting to see Maria play someone younger, like Szavay or Paszek. I almost think a capable young player has a better shot at hurting Maria than someone she's played against a lot.

She has played Paszek before (in Birmingham) who took her to three. I'd like to see Maria play Szavay or Azarenka though. Keep in mind Szavay is only one year younger than Sharapova while Vaidisova and Azarenka are two years younger.

Petrova is Maria's bitch, and conveniently always land in Maria's part of the draw
Kuzzy is unpredictable and hasn't been impressive
Vaidisova just came back from a long lay-off (:secret: I have a feeling Peer will spoil another potential Maria-Nicole showdown)

Martina/Anna/Patty are the players who can trouble Maria most in that side of the draw. The others are too predictable.

Actually, of Justine, Serena, Venus, and Maria in the first THREE matches Maria has/has had the highest ranked players.

Shhh. You don't want to confuse them with facts or anything. They like being ignorant and making shit up to suit their agendas.

Unless, I'm mistaken, cakewalk means a draw with weak competition. You didn't exactly refute what they said.

Using your logic, having Venus and Serena on her half of the draw instead of Kuznetsova and Chakvedatze would make Maria's draw easier, becuase they're lower ranked.

Yes.... however... Serena's 1rst round player had the biggest jump on tour 465 to whatever her rank was 65? or so... on tour... and Venus' second round had also recently had a big jump...

The girl Serena played could be someone to watch in the future as she did contruct some great points..... That being said none of them were great caliber opponents...And all their victories were fairly routine..... You have to look at the player and how they usually play their matches.... I for one wasnt very surprised with any of these results...

The hardest part of Maria's draw is deciding if she should wear the same outfit every night. And I say every night because it seems that slot was bought by Yuri.

I'm hoping Kuzy can take her out and win her 2nd slam..buuttt I dont think she will and I doubt Vaidisova or Radwanska will beat her either.

Petrova.. I think we've seen enough of Sharapova-Petrova to just know that match is a walk-over.

Well... don't count out Kuznetsova - in a way she is practically Maria's equal. They are 3-3 head to head and they both won their first slams in 2004. She is also very talented and has a 50/50 shot of taking out big Masha!

Olaru (Venus' 2R) has more game, and a much brighter future than any of the players that Maria, Justine, or Serena have played thus far IMO.

Well, OK. let's look at the draw so far in more detail:

Justine theoretically should have the easiest draw because she is seeded number one:

1st match Georges rank #145 in the world
2nd " Pironkova #130
3rd Makarova #156

Maria theoretically has the 2nd easiest draw being seeded #2

1st match Vinci # 50
2nd Dellaqua # 90
3rd Radwanska #30

Serena

1st match Kerber #67
2nd Camerin #76
3rd Zvonereva #28

Venus

1st match Nagy #137
2nd Olaru # 84
3rd Bondarenko #21

So far Maria has had no more of a "cupcake" draw than anyone else yet we have to hear in every thread how she is only playing well because she has been gifted every match. BULLSHIT! The draw will get more difficult but as of now Maria has had it no easier than anyone else.

The number one and number two seeds *theoretically* have equally easy draws. They can't meet each other until the finals, and their chances of drawing either 3 or 4 are the same. Same with 5-8, etc.

But I wasn't even arguing how difficult the draws are. You said Maria had the harder opponents because they're ranks were higher. I've yet to see Maria's second round match, but from what I heard from other posters, some other lower ranked players are better players than whoever Maria drew.

No, I didn't. But how is the difficulty of the early rounds supposed to be judged? Just because Maria has kicked her first 2 opponents butts doesn't mean she has been given (illegally, underhandedly, or whatever) an easier draw so far, which is what so many ignorant posters are implying.

yes like against ana. she hits a weak second serve into the net on match point then saves her worst service game for the end of the match including the double fault on match point. nicole will probably come into this match like she did at the french against jankovic where she sprayed the ball until she was down and then broke back only to give away her serve again. she can produce good tennis or awful tennis depending on her state of mind. masha is better mentally and i think this surface suits her game a little better.
