Well done Maria. No complaints.

Kata's streak of reaching the third round is broken, with the opportunity there to reach the 4th Round perhaps she puts in a performance like this, the way games went she wasn't even close to doing something, she did go a break up in the second at 2-1 but then lost the next two games, same as in the first set, when she got back from 2-4 to 4-4 only to lose the next two games. Well she better do something in doubles or else this will be a total disappointment.

Congrats Maria.

Srebotnik :o

With no doubt, Srebotnik is THE biggest choker of the tour.

She can't reach a GS 4th round because she has barriers and she doesn't wanna come across those. That's stupid. :o

But I don't think that will change.

Good, but not good enough. Maria needs to finally go farther than 3rd round. And she has a good chance to do so.

Kirilenko has an excellent chance against Vakulenko. Also, considering Maria's loss to Srebotnik at Stanford earlier this summer, she'll surely be confident going into the match.

With no doubt, Srebotnik is THE biggest choker of the tour.
To be fair this was not even close to a choke, Maria was ahead throughout and held firm. :p

But Katarina is mentally weak, no doubt there.

That really is an dissapoitment, she had all those chances, 15-0 in every game, 2-1 with a break in the 2nd, but she couldn't win :o

I doubt Maria will be worrying about her 5 previous defeats in the 3rd round of GS. This was a very close match, never a lot in it.

You can't expect any easy 3rd round in GS, but remember that Makiri has not lost to a lower ranked player for some time - Wimbledon I think?

To be fair this was not even close to a choke, Maria was ahead throughout and held firm. :p

But Katarina is mentally weak, no doubt there.

She choked a 2-1 lead...that would bring her momentum totally.

And had 30-30 in most of Kirilenko service games. Couldn't break more than twice...

OK, mentally the weakest player on the tour... :p Even Hantuchova isn't that mentally weak... :p

I don't want to jinx Maria, but she has the game to make it to the QF here. Petrova/Szavay/Krajicek will be an obstacle, but, if she holds it together, she can win (especially if Petrova plays like she did in the first set against Rodionova :help: )
