Exactly! a player like her just makes you wonder what happened to all the other franch player

But don't worry guys, Lucie showed in the last slams that on the 3rd and 4rd she is taking it to the next level, and there is no room in there for Bartoli

er.. why is it sad for french tennis? i hope she gets there because she deserves it but also to spite people like you who constantly look for reasons to put her down. the truth is that with no amelie, she is france's best player!

Despite liking Marion, the only time she'll be number one is whenever there's a queue for desserts...

Even if Marion loses to Safarova it is only a matter of time before she becomes French #1. Mauresmo will lose her finalist points at YEC at the end of the year and that will be enough most likely unless she comes back in the fall and does really well to make up for those lost points.

Look why do you think I have something against her for being curvy!? I just don't think she has what it takes to get to number 1!

the way you people constantly go on about her weight is pathetic...
she clearly is not fat, as fat people DO NOT get to Wimbledon finals.

i'm not saying there is no fat there, but most of it is muscle.

and it really isn't hindering her in any way with her recent results, so why can't you people just get over the fact that she is not the smallest of players, and leave it there!

it is ridiculous how you call yourself tennis fans, when all you seem to care about is how much the players weigh as apposed to the tennis they play!!!

No one in this thread has said anything about her being #1, they said she would be the highest ranked French woman.

Just ignore them, they're probably all fatarses themselves so they feel the need to put down a girl who has done absolutely NOTHING to them. Kinda sad really.

I'm just glad, to see that someone who's putting in a lot of effort into her game(wimby).she deserves the recognition. she is great caracter on the tour! this is what tennis needs at the moment. And please stop putting her down coz she don't look like the regular girls on the tour.

well excuse me for reading titles! People who start these threads should just be a bit more precise...

If we're talking about France only then of course she can make, especially now that Amelie is out...

I am not a proponent of the dumbing down i don't think you can gladden of this fact knowing Amelie was out for 4 months.
Sad for french tennis because the "best french player " is "only" the 9th best in the world.

Sorry but I don't think she is good enough to carry the franch flag as rocket #1, when there are players who I believe has been more consistent and better performers.:help:
Apart from the best 4 weeks in her life (the grass season), what has she done this year (and I am not talking about gettin bageled 7 times:tape: )? Sorry but this don't cut it for me, ok she had a good run in wimbledon, but I don't think it is fine that after one tournament she will get to the top 10 and be franchi number 1.

True she had a bad start to the season, but her clay results were pretty consistent (RU, SF, QF and R4 at the French - overall better than Mauresmo) and she reached the QF's in her last two tournaments. Her losses on the hardcourts weren't totally horrendous either (Kirilenko, Dementieva).

The losses in the hardcourts weren't that bad, cause both LenaD and Kirilenko are in good form. But I don't really find her clay reasults really good, because the prep tournaments she played were really weak, and for a top 20 player her losses there were pretty embarrasing :o the 4rd in the RG was impressive but lets face it, then Dementieva was playing really bad

Even after this bad year of Momo, I don't think Baratoli is playing better and deserve to be franchi #1. Even after her 1rd lost, I think that Goloin is a better player than Bartoli, she has been more convinsing during the years (with much more top 10 wins) and showed better ability most of the time.
