View Full Version : USO 2R: Anna Chakvetadze Painstakingly Put Away Nik Pratt 63 64 :smash:

I thought the match would be MUCH easier for Chakvetadze but she made it difficult, like pulling teeth :help:

top players should be able to put away Pratt with the loss of less than 4 games ... it is basically like a practice session with a 14 year old junior

Anna played her worst match of the year :o :o
still won :) :)

Routine victory. Next is Mirza, who Anna has never lost to.
She has to pick it up a little to beat Sharapova.

She played horrible, watched it on direct tv, she went for way too much against pratt and made tooo many errors.

She won... :D

...but bad match by Anna's standards. She was clearly a class above yet made it so difficult for herself. I don't think she'll be happy with her performance at all.

And she'll probably be out on the practice court later working on her drive volleys. :help:

It wasn't a good match from Anna for sure.

But a win is a win. Congrats Anna! :bounce:

She has to play better against Mirza/Granville if she want to reach 4th round.

Wow..This scoreline is odd, but, as someone who followed the match, Chakvetadze really made it hard for herself. This could have been 6-1 6-1.

For sure not the best Match by Anna, she looks a little sleeping to me, but the result is good, so I look to the next Round.

Gees give Nicole a break, yes Anna sprayed a few balls, but Nicole was running everything down, defending very well, and making her play a lot of extra balls and she got frustrated! Anna was also sweaty like a pig, so it wasnt easy for her, Nicole made her earn it!! Nicole hardly made any unforced errors the entire match, only 6 in fact, so Anna really had to win her points and go for more, hence her errors!!! It was a good effort from a 34.5 year old, with no serve or powerful weapon!

Anna did what she needed to win, no need to go all out yet, it's a marathon, not a race.
no Na had a brain cramp in the 2nd set
A clear sign of not being a top player.

Nicole hardly made any unforced errors the entire match!!!

It is true, particularly in the second set. Not many winners either though. At least both players had a positive W:UE ratio. I think we Anna fans now have very high expectations of her.

If these results are who we judge eliteness on, then Venus is not an elite player either. So I guess un-elite Chakvetadze can be expected to take a Wimbledon title soon?

pratt is a fighter.. she never was/will be a top player, but she grinds out wins and always gives it her all. She beat safina this year in sydney, so she obviously CAN (at times) beat the top girls. She is a lot better than some of the girls in the top 100...

anyways, keep it going anna:):):)
