Lindsay has dropped from 72 to 118 in the world in the space of a week:eek: . She got to the final of New Haven in 2006 and as a consequence, she lost all those points.

The same is going to happen after the US Open where she made the Quarters in 2006!

This means that she is almost guranteed to meet a top player first up in next month's bali tournament :fiery: :(

Everytime I see her ranking I'm shocked, I guess I didn't realise how little time she had off, I would have thought at least a full year but this time last year she was still playing. I take my hat off to her.

 We can only pray...

Anyhow, with Lindsay back playing, it'll take her some time to get back up the rankings, but hopefully she can do it. :)

After the US Open, she won't have a ranking. Only 2 tournaments, you need 3. And the Bali entry list -- take a look at it. Davenport will only have trouble with the top 3 seeds. Should be an exciting tournament.

there are no protected ranks anymore.
you still can enter tourns with a SR but it cant help you in the draw.

she has a protected ranking....

But not a protective "seeding" at tournaments. Atleast, i don't think so ?? I think the protective ranking is basically used to get her into tourneys without the use of a WC .

She hasn't played singles in almost a year. What do you expect to happen?

Not true. Because of the required events, she has five "zero" tournaments in her ranking. By the time Bali comes around, she'll technically have seven events on her ranking (the slams, Miami, Bali and Beijing).

Really? That's a silly change for the WTA. Lindsay's ranking will be disgusting then.

There's no reason for her to have a protected or special ranking - she wasn't injured, she "retired" and is now making a comeback.
