View Full Version : Could This Be The Best Slam We've Had In Awhile?

I only say this because almost all the top players are here, many have been playing well (well, a few), lots of young guns coming up in other slams but not totally going to the distance (ivanovic, bartoli), and the old school players still winning the last few. There are a lot of storylines, and good matchups, on our way.

Personally, I'm probably most excited for Maria-Nicole (if it happens), Serena-Justine, Venus-Ivanovic, Venus/Ivanovic-Jankovic, and many other ones.
Do you think all these players will come together with their best games, and we have an emotional favourite winner, or a breakout winner?

Or will this slam end up being a dud.

I agree  I think this will be a GREAT major, and hopefully will have a SUPER-COMPETITIVE second week (no blowout SF/F), and I think we will either see a promising talent come through in a BIG way, or a former US Open champion will show their mettle and take the title in grand fashion.

I'm REALLY excited! :bounce:

I agree, Wimbledon was good. But was spoiled for me by Serena's injury.

We've had a rubbish US Hardcourt season, but I think the USO will be where everything comes together and everyone plays their best. Should be even better than Wimbledon :)

And I think one of the former champions will regain their crown.

I think from the 4r onwards, there will be blood.

I can't see an unexpected player reaching the final(like bartoli in wimbledon)..because I think everyone is playing great at the moment:D ..the williamses(serena injury free), ivanovic, jankovic, sharapova(injury free). I'm not quite sure about henin though. I also hope martina is in good form. I think it will be the best grand slam of the year;)

I think it's gonna be the best Slam of 2007, for sure. So many great players at the top half, from the fourth round it should be exciting.:)

it should be great!!! however the top half being so tough does have the potential to make the final a blowout but hopefully the whole tournie is great no matter who wins

Glad to see others are as excited as me. :D

I'm getting in that mindset where I just start spewing out big propositions, due to my high on tennis.
But at least I wasn't as wrong with this title ^.

Interesting that people don't think there will be a new slam winner. I agree though, I think we'll have to wait until next year for it to happen.

the first possibly great matches that could come along would be Henin vs Tati, Venus vs Ivanovic, Sharapova vs Vaidisova those would be my picks of the 4th RD

i only see actually 4 people winning because of their games and the surface...Serena, Venus, Masha or Ana...i don't include JH cause any of those 4 can blast her off the court....Ana will have the toughest time though cause the other 3 can out grit her....if Ana doesn't win though i think she's the most likely to pull through with a slam next year

Well, with five of the top six contenders in the top half, it is hard to say whether this will be a great open.

If a breakthrough player emerges through either half it could be great, but I am not holding my breath.

There should be some great matches in the second week (and latter part of the first week) if the players rise to the occasion and produce some good tennis.

I hope we get a competitive final.

I'm very excited and full of positive thoughts before the last GS of the year. May the best one win!

I'm skeptical, considering all the injuries this year...we might just have more blowouts in the QF-F rounds.
