Which Player has best chance of reaching maiden GS Final at Flushing Meadows?vadin124 Aug 25th, 2007, 08:50 PM Which of the following players has the best chance of following in Ivanovic and Bartoli's footsteps by reaching the final of a Grand Slam for the first time?? Bruno71 Aug 25th, 2007, 08:53 PM As much as I'd normally want to vote for JJ here, it's Anna C. She has one huge hurdle in Maria, but if she can get past that I could see her in the finals. JJ's draw is too difficult to give her the best chance. The only other one I think has any chance at all is Tati, and that would take a hugely surprising run. Vote: The girl in your avatar is a better pick than some of those in your poll. vadin124 Aug 25th, 2007, 09:22 PM Milagros Sequera - Won title in Fes, a prestigious stop on the calender, beating Wozniak in the final (herself a world class player). Won 18 matches this year, including a win over american sensation Kimberley Ann Couts, ranked 871 in the world! Casey Dellacqua - has had wins over Hatsumi Hamamura, Marinne Giraud, Antonia Matic, unranked Yuko Adachi and Naomi Broady this year. Accumulated an enourmous $100,249 this year. Mentally a tough player who at her best is incredibally hard to stop. One of the real contenders for the title, with Sequera, Henin and Venus Jessica Moore - showed everyone what she was made of by winning 2 games to Svetlana Kuznetsova in Melbourne, a genuine threat to anyone and always a real contender when it comes down to crunch time jonny84 Aug 25th, 2007, 09:26 PM Jankovic or Chakavetadze. cellophane Aug 25th, 2007, 09:28 PM Anna, then Nadia Bruno71 Aug 25th, 2007, 09:29 PM Um, I don't see Sequera in the draw anywhere. SF thetennisutopian Aug 25th, 2007, 09:32 PM LMFAO at the justification for the last 3. It's either Jelena or Chaky for me. I'm not sure which but I think I'll go with Chaky for the poll. Slutiana Aug 25th, 2007, 09:59 PM i voted for tati out of loyalty but if she was in the bottom half i'd say she'd have the best chance. Tati has the worst draw from 4th round. I know im discounting JJ, AI and SV but look at this 4r Henin (6 slams, 1 USO, 2007 RG Champ) SF Serena ( 8 slams 2 USOs, AO Champ) QF Venus (6 slams 2 USOs, Wimbly Champ) F Sharapova (2 slams 1 USO, Defending champ) thats a seemingly impossible task. That has to be one of the wost 4r - F draws ever. 3 GOATS:eek: and she'd have to play the last 4 GS Winners IN A ROW!! poor tati Dexter Aug 25th, 2007, 10:06 PM Anne Keothavong... Oops, she lost today. Slutiana Aug 25th, 2007, 10:08 PM Anne Keothavong... Could Milagros be the first non-playing competitor to reach a slam final??? Tennisstar86 Aug 25th, 2007, 10:12 PM where is the vaidisova-option? Nicole, Jelena and/or Daniela would be great Yeah... I was gonna say i think Vaidisova has a better chance than Chak..... srry JJ got screwed on the draw....its gotta be someone from that lower draw... @Sweet Cleopatra Aug 25th, 2007, 10:43 PM not all players're listed ...,,, Kim's_fan_4ever Aug 25th, 2007, 10:45 PM not all players're listed ...,,, Really? Viktymise Aug 25th, 2007, 10:46 PM LOL @ the last 3 options. If any of those 3 EVER make it to a slam final or even get close to one, you know womens tennis is in trouble :tape: Anyway Sequera isin't even playing so  goldenlox Aug 25th, 2007, 10:50 PM Probably Chakvetadze. When she beat Venus that was her 19th win in 20 matches, which included beating Jankovic in the Rosmalen final. She's 6-0 in finals, so I think she will handle the pressure. She has to get past Sharapova. sammy01 Aug 25th, 2007, 10:58 PM chakvetadze! i think for me shes 2nd favourite out of the bottom half of the draw to reach the final after sharapova! kuznetsova is in crap form and was getting beaten today by szavay (a good player but shouldnt be troubling sveta in a final!) the only other players apart from them 3 are nadia petrova (mental nutcase! who anna owns 4-0 in there h2h) and nicole who hasnt played for 7 weeks and has sharapova in the 4th round! so for me in order of most likely to reach the final from bottom half is; sharapova chakvetadze kuznetsova petrova vadisova (in that order!) | |
