Terrible draw for Lucie. But she has proven that she can beat the best! :) Serena Williams have have a short stay at the Open. ;)

I wouldn't say it's terrible. But that's probably because I would be fully satisfied with Lucie reaching 4th round. And that she can do even in this kinda bad form. Bartoli could be stubborn though. If she will lose to Moore, Petkovic or Cohen then it's worse with her than I imagined.

Having Bartoli is bad luck... If she loses before then, though, then it will be one busy off-season for Lucie! ;)

Actually it dosnt look that bad to me. She could beat Bartoli & even challenge Serena if she's on. Good luck Lucie, go for it ! Has third round pts to defend here.

Jess won't beat her. Plus I hope Safarova can beat Bartoli! Go Lucie :)

How many points do you get for the second round?

If she has a great year next year, imagine how her ranking will do! :) She can beat Bartoli... She just needs to remember to go for her shots and make smart decisions.

2nd round - 60 points
3rd round - 90 pts
4th round - 140 pts
QF - 250 pts
SF - 450 pts
F - 700 pts
W - 1000 pts

Lucka has 38 points to defend for reaching 2nd round last season.

It's gonna be tough to improve her ranking in the next year, very important will be how she can cope with defending Melbourne QF and Paris Indoors final, her top two results in term of ranking points. Together those two tournaments make up 440 points, which is a lot and may significantly adversely affect Lucie's ranking at the start of 2008. It would be wise to "pre-defend" some points during the upcoming indoor season so that any eventual loss of the points from AO and Paris wouldn't be so drastic. But that's far way off at the moment.

Not sure if anyone here cares that Lucie is playing doubles with Petra Cetkovská. Here is their section of the draw. The more she plays doubles the better her volleys will be.

Petra Cetkovska (CZE)/Lucie Safarova (CZE) vs Eleni Daniilidou (GRE)/Jasmin Woehr (GER)
Paola Suarez (ARG)/Roberta Vinci (ITA) vs Marta Marrero (ESP)/Selima Sfar (TUN)
Lourdes Dominguez Lino (ESP)/Arantxa Parra Santonja (ESP) vs Alicia Molik (AUS)/Mara Santanhelo (ITA) (4)

Thanks.
I like it when Lucie plays doubles but I can understand why she doesn't play more often with how injury prone she is.
But it is great to see she always plays at the slams.
Tough draw though:(

Not a fan of the outfit. Black doesn't suit her IMO.

Good win though. ;)

I am still totally depressed due to Hantuchova's loss, so if Lucie will lose this I may as well throw myself in front of a ten wheel semi truck. :hysteric: Good luck, Lucka.

Don't do it, Lunaris! I'm glad Lucka came through to save you. She's a heroine.

Does anyone have a report on Lucie's matches? The US Open point tracker is lousy.

Third round is key. I know Lucie can do it. She can hit winners that Marion will only be able to look at or chase to no avail. Go Lucie!:bounce:

When is Lucie playing doubles?

Court 15 match 3, maybe around 1:30-2:00pm eastern time, depends on first two matches.

Good luck to Lucie and Petra :bounce:

A shame, but Bartoli is a good player.

She'll play next Czech Team Cup for TC Prostjeov.
