I looked on the listings for the Tennis Channel and unfortunately they`re showing Houston vs. Kansas City. That sucks ass. They should be showing Maria instead of snorefest. Don`t they know that Maria = ratings?

Wait, on Maria's website it says she lost both matches already. 2-5 for both mixed and womens.

Weird. Her site must be wrong as the WTT site says it is 4-3 in mixed and womens hasnt happened yet.

Emina.
Jul 26th, 2007, 02:58 PM
she didn't play in singles because of a minor foot injury.

''"A few days ago I had a freak accident with my foot," Sharapova told the fans before the match. "Typical of me."

ok.. So Versus -US Network- Showed Maria's matches yesterday. A couple of notes

She said her she's got a bruised bone on her foot, but nothing too serious.

She changed her service motion a little bit, shorter take back, a little bit abbreviated.

I got this all on video so I'm hoping I'll be able to upload this later today or Tuesday. :D ;)

Maybe Im too nerveous over nothing, but about her bruised bone, could you tell it was bothering her?, or, if she hasnt said anything, you would never have known about it??

With all these injuries she still has an above average year. It's not that bad. This minor foot injury worries the hell out of me too

Above average?

I would have called it a disaster. Maria hasn't played a single solitary match this year in the fashion that she's able to, on account of that shoulder of hers. We all know she can reach semis and finals while sleepwalking. But in every test of her shoulder she's had this year, she's failed. I was watching the Sharapova/Chakvetadze AO QF last night and she hit one 2nd serve into the BOTTOM of the net. That isn't confidence, not yips, not even lack of concentration. No pro player who is healthy serves like that. That is physical incapacity.

She can beat most players with one arm tied behind her back, and playing at about 75%, which is essentially what she has proven this year. It's those power players she just can't hang with without her right arm being healthy.

Hindsight's 20/20, but I wish she'd sat out the first 6 months of the year, and come back fully healthy for Wimbledon and the USO. Now, I'm hoping she goes straight from the USO to a good physical therapist, and does what she needs to do, and doesn't appear again until January '08.

You never can tell with Maria. She doesn't tend to say a lot about any injuries until she's forced to. However on GM someone has posted she put in a 125 mph serve at WTT!

I agree with all you said but her year is above average cause in spite of all these injuries, she still made her best AO and RG ever. Look at Mauresmo who had surgery and bad luck this year, Maria made a way better season than her.
But it's Maria and sure it's not the results that she's used to having but under these tough situations, it's above average to me;)

while playing wtt the commentaters were talking about Maria's new service motion....saying it was abbreviated because of the strain on her shoulder...they said it was more clean...only she's not used to it yet. They also said she was serving as fast as 126....which is real good, so maybe she just needs to get in the hang of this new motion then we will see the Maria were all used to seeing....right?

Dan23
Jul 31st, 2007, 02:46 AM
126mph cant be right. Maria has never been able to serve that fast :p
Maybe a 20 knot breeze blew up just as she hit it!

Natasc
Jul 31st, 2007, 02:49 AM
Honestly I always believed that Maria's toss was a way too high
which make things harder when is an windy day...
after a while the commentators started to say the same

so...maybe is a good time for change :D

swissmr
Jul 31st, 2007, 03:10 AM
I've always thought Maria should be able to serve in the 120's with her height, so maybe with a new motion she can. Still, I'll have to see that 126 before I believe it. She did serve a 118 earlier this year so maybe it's possible...

Jacey
Jul 31st, 2007, 03:29 AM
believe me....when they interviewed Maria on court after her mixed doubles match she was shocked herself....she was like "I don't believe it that can't be right", but Luke Jensen & Katrina Adams were like...."yeah you did serve that fast" soooo all we can do is wait & see what happens in San Diego, by the way does anyone know when Maria plays her 1st match???

well, she surely put so much dedication into fixing her serve and preventing unnecessary stress on her shoulder, so maybe its starting to pay off. vaidisova experienced some problems with her shoulder as well, so she abbreviated her service motion and still has got a cool serve. as soon as she'll have this down a 100 % she'll be ready to rock again and then watch out ! ! ! :D go masha ! still cant wait for hte vidz. i wanna see that fast serve :hearts:
