There's a British newspaper called The Observer, and every month they do a sports mag.
In the mag. they have a little section called Overrated/Underrated, where they say who in the sporting world they think is over- or underrated.
This month they say James Allen (F1 comentator) is overrated and Anna Kournikova is underrated.
Here's the piece:
'To judge by most of what is written about her, you'd think that Anna Kournikova is the worst tennis player ever to take up the game. In fact she's a superb athlete, with brilliant groundstrokes. She's not a world champion, but not many are. Her form this year has been poor, but she has been recovering from serious injury, which would usually mean she's cut a little slack. Not for Anna though, and her critics have queued up to take swipes. What really irks them is the disparity betweeen her wins and her earnings - as if the relationship between beauty, fame and wealth was a cunning little ruse she cooked up all by herself. In fact her approach is not only understandible, it's sensible. And to paraphrase Liz Taylor, 'If they're stupid enough to offer her money, why should she be stupider and turn it down?'.
It's nice to see an article about Anna that doesn't rub her face in the dirt, isn't it?:).
I admit I was one of Kournikova's critics, but after THAT Wimbledon interview, I have softened somewhat. I feel sorry for her that alot of people continually diss her, but I don't feel sorry for her because she has so much cash that she doesn't know what to do with it.
It's a double-edged sword, but this time I think the article is right:D.
