Hello people, I've been a fan of Jelena since the Australian season really. It's taken me an eternity to post here, but sometimes I can be extremely lazy :D

Anyway hello again:wavey:

Me three. :)

I've liked Jelena for quite a while but I don't post that often on forums (because of the insults that get thrown around).

But I'll make an exception for a player with such charisma (on and off court).

It's v nice to see the enthusiastic and dedicated support for her in here.

Yes thats the only problem with forums these days you always get the odd people who have nothing nice to say about great players such as Jelena, best just to ignore them :(

Another late comer to the Serbian party, so I'll tack my first post onto the end of this thread! :). Hi!

My tennis interest hasn't half been re-ignited by this “new” Serbian quartet: Novac Djokovic, Ana Ivanovic, Jelena Jankovic and Janko Tipsarevic! They make the sport a thoroughly pleasurable one to watch again (particularly Djokovic and Jankovic). What a refreshing contrast they provide to the robotic dourness of some other players (power, artistry, personality...what on earth are they putting into the water in Belgrade?!).

Like a lot of casual tennis fans, I recently got “drawn” into watching mixed doubles matches being played on outside courts through to completion because of the Jelena Jankovic/Jamie Murray pairing. Hard to believe they’d never played together as a duo before Wimbledon. Their styles and strengths locked together in a complimentary way, and they gelled more and more as a team as they progressed through the rounds. A big leftie serve, great intuitive net play and quietly whispered asides from Andy’s older brother; bazooka hard ground strokes combined with levity between shots (and during!) from Jelena. This girl likes to laugh! And your whole mood sweetens when she does.

She so openly exhibits her emotions on the court, not caring to contain the feelings in case her opponent draws strength from witnessing her dismay at a duffed shot or annoyance at a double fault; this makes one warm to her a lot. I think aside from any tournament wins she achieves, Jelena should take a lot of satisfaction knowing that she’s attracting spectators to tennis who wouldn’t ordinarily be watching, purely on the back of her powerful shot making and joie de vivre.

I hope she’ll be in and around at the top of the game for a while yet, and that she doesn’t physically/emotionally burn herself out...it would appear she‘s played an AWFUL LOT of matches over the past 12 months or so (and a few days ago I understand she picked up a thigh strain playing in a monster Fed Cup tie against Dominika Cibulkova in the Fed Cup).

Time for a decent break, JJ!

Hello, another newcomer here! I've been a tennis fan for about 15 years - I watch as much as possible and play a bit too (if you can call it that!!) As a few others in this thread have said it's not always that tempting to join forums when you often get abuse but having browsed here for a bit I can see it's a friendly place with members who just want to share a common interest.

I enjoy men's tennis (esp. Nadal) but have alway preferred women's tennis. My favourite current player is Jelena Jankovic (as you can probably tell!) I was trying to phrase a 'speech' about what it is I admire about her but I think Rych has said it all, couldn't agree more with the summary.

My other favourite female players include Monica Seles, Jennifer Capriati and Steffi Graf.

Looking forward to chatting to you all soon :)
