That Final was sooooooooooooooooooooooo boring! Hewitt must be stopped! All he does is hit the ball hard, run, has superior skil, phenomenal athletic abilities and determination! Its not right! He has won 2 of the last 4 slams! Thats not right! He hits the ball too hard and will make mens tennis boring! No one wants to watch Hewitt dominate!

He is head and shoulders above everyone else and has no challengers. He won in straight sets!

Jul 7th, 2002, 04:45 PM
He is such good! no one could beat him at the moment but i think he can't play on this level the next ten years!

so we have to wait and hope for some goood players to beat him!!

Jul 7th, 2002, 04:50 PM
How sad this is for men's tennis.
That Aussie is dominating the game like none have ever done.
Lleyton just crushed that poor Agentinian.

Men's tennis is dead. :(

Jul 7th, 2002, 04:52 PM
Long live the death of men's tennis ;) :D :bounce:

It is just so sad to see the direction that men's tennis is going in...sad, sad, sad

Jul 7th, 2002, 04:56 PM
It's the end

Jul 7th, 2002, 05:00 PM
ehehehe LMAO @ cybelle..... (dont you have like a nickname of your nickname yet???)

I really do have to say you do these things so much better than anyone else :bounce:

Jul 7th, 2002, 05:00 PM
Big time for Lleyton !!!

Make way to Mr. Ambition, please !

Jul 7th, 2002, 05:01 PM
Everyone who is not #1 should just retire now. ;) ;) ;)

Jul 7th, 2002, 05:04 PM
Go Lleyton :bounce:

Jul 7th, 2002, 05:14 PM
The men's final:

No net game.
No drop shots.
No touch volleys.
No top spin lobs.
Just all of that ripping power.

Lleyton's opponet was just overpowered unmercilessly.

Jul 7th, 2002, 05:18 PM
So Lleyton is a power player now?? LOL

Jul 7th, 2002, 05:22 PM
Lleyton is not a power player, who says he is obviously dont know mens tennis

Jul 7th, 2002, 05:23 PM
I know you guys are just joking, but are you sure you want to go there? Why not rise above it like Venus and Serena do?

I dissagree I believe that when fully fit there are any number of players capable of beating Hewitt.

I would say that overall on every surface he is up at the highest level, but there are players on each surface who can beat him.

Form and injuries are the reason he is running away from the rest of the tour.

Rios, Bjorkman, Agassi, Safin, Mallisse, Kuerten, Haas, Federer, Roddick and Kiefer are all very capable of beating Hewitt.

Jul 7th, 2002, 05:34 PM
i also disagree.
but go lleyton :bounce:

Jul 7th, 2002, 05:57 PM
i disagree leiton does it everything well but does not overpower his oponnents. he wins a lot with mental tougness and great defensive skills. he can hit hard sometimes but its not his game, he plays a lot like hingis.

Jul 9th, 2002, 03:30 PM
I get your sarcasm, Cybelle. Thanks for the post.

Jul 9th, 2002, 04:48 PM
I wish Martina could run as fast as Lleyton . :bounce:

Jul 9th, 2002, 05:03 PM
The Potato doesn't hit hard, but thats all he does.

there are loads more who hit bigger than him.

I for one just wanna see getting peeled in every match except when he plays Farmer Timmy

Jul 9th, 2002, 05:10 PM
They are not serious its called Satire!

Cybelle, your thread started out funny until people took it too serious! :p

I am still laughing!!

Oh no, we NEED to see Rafter back and healthy, and omg Pete has got to get his game in gear so he can challenge Hewitt. I mean this is so boring seeing Lleyton Hewitt winning and DOMINATING the men's game. I think the ATP tour will be alot better once Pete and Rafter, and Mark and Andre get unijured, or mentally tougher , THE ATP NEEDS to challenge Hewitt. Otherwise men's tennis will be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo BORING!!

In the words of Chrissy and John and that crazy Mary Carillo............. THE FOLLOWING PLAYERS will make the ATP tour more exciting when they come back and continue to challenge Lleyton. Agassi, Pete, Mark, Roddick... these players were already beating up on Lleyton, so they MUST come back so they can stop the ATP tour from a slow death.!!

The ratings prove my theory. :)

Jul 9th, 2002, 06:20 PM
lleyton rulez :p

Jul 9th, 2002, 06:35 PM
Yeah, men's tennis is dying.........no, oops my bad that's women's tennis isn't it.

I don't really understand how such a great player like Hewitt can mean the end for men's tennis?. It doesn't really make any sense!.

The reason the final wasn't particulary exciting was because Hewitt was playing a low seeded inexpierenced Argentinian who froze on centre court. If you watched the quarter final where Lleyton took on Scheng Schalken you'll know that it was a very exciting 5 setter which Lleyton just scraped thorugh. Proof that Lleyton can be competed with.

Hewitt is a great player but he isn't unbeatable. If you look at the grand slams this year Hewitt has won 1 out of 3. Surely if he was unbeatable he would've won all 3??.

I think we should be enjoying Hewitt play and not moaning because no one can beat him!!.

I think some people in this thread should look up the word "sarcasm" in their dictionary

LMAO at this thread! Good one, it never ceases to amaze me that some people just don't get sarcasm.

The funny thing about this thread - I was going to create one just like it in the ATP forum to take the piss right out of this forum.

Lets just say I saw it coming ;) Yawn, predictable :D

Jul 9th, 2002, 09:28 PM
LOL Cybell I think this deserves an award. And Dawn LMAO, I think you quoted Chrissy down to a tee :)

Hmm I wonder when the retired players will spring up to let us know how Lleyton's style of play is boring and how no one has a chance against him? Come on where's Bjorn Borge?, Boris Becker? I'm waiting.

Jul 9th, 2002, 09:29 PM
I agree Cybelle. By winning 2 of the past 4 Slams, Hewitt has signalled the end of the 140mph acefest that I enjoy so much.

Jul 9th, 2002, 09:36 PM
For those of you comparing Hewitts style to the Williams Sisters -

You cannot be serious :)

The men and women hardly even play the same game.

Jul 9th, 2002, 10:01 PM
I miss the classic battles of Andre and Pete. They played old fashioned tennis that was not boring!

Dawn Marie
Jul 9th, 2002, 10:05 PM
Oh Lawd, some people just don't get satire, saracasm at all??

People, People, People, Chris and John John and Mary and a host of other idiots, are saying the WTA tour is boring because of two players who are DOMINATING the other players. Those stupid comments have nothing to do with any kind of STYLE of play, they are talking about players who are WINNING everything. AIn't it funny though, that they don't express the same concern with Lleyton's winning ways?

Noooooooooooooooooooooo OMG both tours are going to the pots!! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo WE HAVE GOT TO FIND SOME ONE WHO CAN CHALLENGE THE SISTERS AND LLEYTON.

Because if tennis keeps up like this, I am afraid of what might happen? I must not think about it, but can you imagine no more "Wta World"? We already lost "Sanex" because of the DOMINATION;):)

Dawn Marie
Jul 9th, 2002, 10:10 PM
Gumbycat, yes those were some classic non BORING battles of DOMINATION!! LMAO

Sam, let us not forget Hingis and the tour in 1997, back then the WTA had some exciting classic slam finals, BORING.. so NOT true. Chris and john and Mare mare's mouth were smiling those days .. It's nice to see their not now.

Tennis my friends is EXCITING!!

"I miss the classic battles of Andre and Pete. They played old fashioned tennis that was not boring!"

Andre is a baseliner. Pete was all serve.

Trust me, they still exist in lesser forms, on the ATP today :p

Becca we know, which is why this is a SARCASTIC thread.. DOH!!

Jul 9th, 2002, 10:27 PM
Speed, speed and ground strokes! Hewitt's game is Very Dull.......

Dawn Marie
Jul 9th, 2002, 10:39 PM
Sam that is correct we need someone who can run as fast as he!! Fore he is soooooooooooooooo Dominating with his footowork and speed, that he is making the ATP dead (tired)!! He is MAKING other players raise the bar ,to be faster and it is sooooooooooooo WRONG and ....................

and don't get me started on a Clijster/Clijster final if one should EVER occur.:)

Jul 9th, 2002, 11:02 PM
Hewitt is turning the ATP into a Fred Astair dance contest. We need Pete and Andre to bring back proper order to tennis.

Jul 9th, 2002, 11:22 PM
The nice thing is, Hewitt's an ASV type. No big serve, usually not big groundstrokes, but he gets everything back and never gives up. BUt he's no super-athlete. Give Marat Safin the balls of a fruit fly, the concentration of Evonne Goolagong or at least have him CARE and he'd beat Hewitt 7 times out of 10. Instead of maybe a historic rivalry, it's no rivalry at all. Safin is Boris Becker without the desire. Marianna Simonescu was better looking than any of Marat's blondes too.

They ought to call him 'DeSade' Safin. His whole attitude is a self-inflicted wound waiting to happen.

Jul 9th, 2002, 11:24 PM
Count the obscure references in that post. Wow. I'm old and have too much time on my hands.

Jul 10th, 2002, 12:35 AM
Lleyton will kill men's tennis if he keep up like this. We will have to tell Kim to marry him so he can get distracted. We can't have him dominating because he will make it so boring. Pete, Andre will have to step it up because this little aussie can't destroy the game with all his baseline rallies and power.

Jul 10th, 2002, 01:59 AM
I think Lleyton's an awesome eg of a smaller guy who does'nt have a big serve who plays great tennis. I think he has a great attitude and I love the way he gets himself fired up !

Go Lleyton !!!

Hilarious and true.

He reminds me of the Michael Chang school of
baseline with foot speed.

Yeah I find him boring also. I've never liked Hewitt since the first time I saw him play in '99. He just irritates the heck out of me.

The revolution will take place in a time zone convenient to Australians.

Clearly the only people who should be allowed to attend tournaments are Lleyton, Serena, Venus and Kim for good measurs since both Lleyton and Serena seem to like her.

Jul 10th, 2002, 09:23 AM
Volcana more like 9 out of 10 times. Honestly, there is NOTHING special about Hewitt's game. There is his speed and his determination to get every ball back. That is IT. That is his only strength. What happens is most players crack under the pressure or try to do too much and make too many errors and lose.

Anyway I just hope Marat Safin will get his game together.. and soon!

Jul 10th, 2002, 09:25 AM
Has anyone noticed his two handed backhand and how that ALWAYS goes cross coourt until his opponent misses? He just keeps hitting it crosscourt!!!! Geez, that is boring boring boring. He must practise that shot a million times a day

Jul 10th, 2002, 09:45 AM
I'm just waiting for the next Afro-American tennis player who possess the athletic abilities of Maurice Greene and Michael Jordan to surface in the ATP tour and thrash the living hell out of Hewitt....and also take men's tennis into newer heights. That will be so fucking grand!

Jul 11th, 2002, 01:59 AM
I hope he comes soon.
