Williams collected £700,000 for her one hour and 30 minutes victory, the first year of equal pay for men and women at Wimbledon, but her delight at the end showed that the money meant little to this millionairess whose prospects of another title here had been largely discounted. The added bonus being that she ALWAYS proves the naysayers wrong. :tape:

Indeed. She worked so hard for it. Congrats Venus, couldn't have been anyone else.

Good. And she mentioned it, and the work of Billie Jean King. And people are acknowledging Venus' part in the whole thing too. Just good!!!

Yes, that part of her speech was deeply heart warming.

so fitting, and on the 50th anniversary of Althea Gibson's first Winby title too.

Maybe she can share a little of it with BJK, since she made this all possible?!

Maybe she can share a little of it with BJK, since she made this all possible?!That would be a wonderful gesture.
Venus could take her out for a Hot Fugde Sundae. ;)
