Serena won Australian open, Justine the French, and Venus Wimbledon.
Now that Kim is no longer playing, I wonder who gets the Us Open?

It could be Venus again. She's still on the roll in 2005, leading the match solidly until Clijsters fought back on crucial points and finally beat her.

Lindsay will comeback and win the US Open.

Wasn't that Kim's first slam victory? hmmmm.....someone like Ivanovic or Vaidisova might grab their first slam.

I think that 2007 is confirming to us that when future generations look back on the first decade of the new millenium, they'll see that:
Serena Williams was Queen of Melbourne
Justine Henin was Queen of Roland Garros
Venus Williams was Queen of Wimbledon
Three great champions and each one should get respect for what she has achieved.

Only The Queen of Flushing Meadow for the decade has yet to be finalised:

Venus is the only woman to have won two titles there this decade, though Serena won in 99 as well as 02.
Kim's gone.
Sveta, Masha and Justine have one title each and are all top 5 players.
With the 07, 08 & 09 championships still to take place, the race is on!

Ivanovic will win the US Open - she is the new Kim (off-court) after all :p

No, it will go to one of the 2005 semifinalists since Kim and Mary are both not playing. So Sharapova or Dementieva, and no way in hell is it Dementieva. :o

I think one of the Serbs or Czechs will break through.

Unless Sharpie defends again. I wouldn't count out Serena or Venus either.

in 2005 Serena won the Oz, Justine won RG. Serena went on Jonathan Ross and Live Eight happened on the day of the Wimbledon final. Venus won Wimbledon.

in 2007 Serena won the Oz. Justine won RG. Serena went on Jonathan Ross and Live Earth happened on the day of the Wimbledon final. Venus won Wimbledon.

In 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005, the RG runner-up was the USO runner-up  Sveta ruined it last year

Anyway, I hope Serena will win it :p

i think the US Open Will be the most competitve One with the 3 greats being favourites then mauresmo, sharapova and jankovic as the second batch of favourites, then theres Kuznetsova (dno where to put her lol) then young guns: Tati, Vaidisova, Ivanovic, Peer e.t.c Then theres players you just can't count out like Petrova and Dementieva and then theres Bartoli

have i forgotten anyone?

I highly doubt she will win it. She is the new choker.

So, U.S Open 2007 will go to the "Best player not to have won a slam"?

So, U.S Open 2007 will go to the "Best player not to have won a slam"?

Dementieva is incapable of winning a grand slam, and I doubt Petrova too.

So who be left then? The others are too young to say "best not to have a slam."

Safarova and Chakvetadze. I would definitely place them higher than Golovin and even Peer. Also, Paszek and Azarenka cannot win but can have a breakthrough.

The answer will probably be the winner of the US Open Series (jankovic) because she will play the most torneys.

well, I thought wimbledon would be very competitive because there was serena, justine, amelie started playing good again, maria, venus and maybe jelena
but after the 2 clashes (venus-maria & serena-justine), it kind of 'collapsed'

I hope everyone will be healthy for the us open
it could be very interesting to see the battle for the 4th grand slam of the year
and for once no justine-serena quarterfinal please ;)

It's a Belgian in the final, just like in 2007, except that it's Henin, not Clijsters.

Justine is winning the US OPEN there is no way she will lose to Kuzentsova unless Justine chokes. Svetlana I haven't been impressed with her at all this US OPEN. Kuznetsova was lucky to have an easy draw and have Sharapova and Nicole lose early. It looks like Svetlana will have her second runner up at a grand slam just like last year's French Open. The only way Justine is losing the match tomorrow is if she chokes thats it.
