Marion's great run ( Beating Justine ) or Venus' winning it for the 4th time ?

I'll remember Venus's win, especially the drilling she gave Sharapova. I prefer to forget Marion's run.

Marion's run it was just inspiring! With Venus it's more seen her do this a hundred times and it gets old! lol

Justines upset is a big one! For me, Marion's Pierce Brosnan quote was pretty good.

both. But if I had to pick, I would say Venus.
I just hope this is not a one tournament thing for Marion. If she can play at this level consistently she can be a real force in the top 20 of women's tennis. Marion was so mentally tough this tournament and if she can shrug off this loss she can hopefully have more memorable moments in the future.

What? Since when does 4 = 100?

For me it's Richard Williams hugging Bartoli's dad. They say he's a bad man, but I've never seen a coach do that to the opponent's family/coach. I almost started to cry.

Well you know what I mean, it's the same with Federer he has won it so many times that even though it's an exciting experience winning it again it's never quite as amazing winning for the first time!

I thought it was so sweet what Richard done when Bartolis Dad broke down in tears, he is such a lovely guy, I actually had tears in my eyes!

Depends who you're a fan of. :p But I will always remember this Wimbledon for Marion's great run and for her third set demolition of Justine. :hearts:

Marion's run was surprising. I know she made the semifinals of Eastbourne, but knocking out Jankovic and Henin were impressive.
Also, it was one of the rainest Wimbledons in a long, long time.

I understand how you feel about Federer because he seems to win EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE, but that's not the same with Venus.

We can agree to disagree about that, but agree about Bartoli's dad. The fact that people thought he was crazy to believe in her makes her story even better. The people who are doubted the most seem to do the best.

Yeah I get your point because everytime you look at a paper or the sports news Federer is lifting another grand slam trophy.

But Venus has been out with injury and not been in great form this year but for her to raise her game like this and then win Wimbledon for the 4th time after everyone doubting her as a contender due to her first 2 matches, so i see where you are coming from :)

I would usually say Venus winning the Wimby title but I knew after she got past Maria in the fourth round her chances were great.

For me it would have to be Marion defeating Justine after the commentators wen't on and on about Justine not losing here. Only Mary Joe and Mary Carillo gave Venus a chance from the start, the rest were indifferent and believed Venus was washed up. It was hilarious when Marion defeated her and they all were scrambling to come up with a reason for the upset. They even implied that Venus was "lucky" she didn't have to play Justine in the finals. Forget the fact that Venus has a 7-1 record over Justine.

I picked Venus and Nadal (there's proof in my LJ fuckaz) to win Wimbledon the night before the tourney started. So glad I'm at least half right!

Anyway, both. Rain, Venus winning, Bartoli's run, Nadal defying the odds in beating Soderling/Youzhny/Berdych/Djokovic, the emergence of Gasquet, Sharapova losing early, Krajicek making the quarterfinal, really, so many amazing stories this year. This was an excellent Wimbledon.

I agree. its very interesting to me that they are giving Marion the greatest regards on this match.....Dont get me wrong Marion played a good match, but Henin Choked....she tried to choke against an injured Serena. I dont see Henin ever winning Wimbledon. This was her opportunity to get the the final and be the favorite (regardless i think Venus would have won) but she couldnt even do that.

And see MAry Joe is a big Venus fan, which is shocking because i remember a time when she was the biggest Venus hater back when she first retired and became an announcer. Now she loves to see them win. Where are all the brits that bashed VEnus all week long? i want to see those announcers and experts...cause they are nowhere to be seen.

Definitely Marion Bartoli reaching the Wimbledon final :hearts: 15 years from now when some teenagers are looking at the record books and say "Who is Marion Bartoli, and how did she make a Wimbledon final?", we will all know how she did it and she will forever be admired for bold and fearless tennis.

Venus winning number 4 is the memorable part for me because she was on the brink of elimination in round 1 and round 3. Marion had a great run but when time moves on, no one is going to remember who finished second.

I am over the moon with Venus win, but nothing these past 2 weeks
compares to Bartoli's SHOCKING upset of an in-form Justine.

Once Venus thrashed Sharapova and got her championship winning form
back, there was a sense of deja vu going into the last couple of rounds.

Marion's SF upset of Henin is what I'll most remember '07 Wimby for,
closely followed by Venus exciting run to her 4th Wimbledon!

well if this is Venus last wimbledon (i dont think it will be then yes it will be remembered) if it is just one of the few more to come (as i suspect) then really i dont see it being remember for anything other than the rain....

This really was a great wimbledon. Not just because Venus won (even though that's about 75% of the reason), but there were a lot of interesting match ups and upsets that made it quite interesting. Venus' win is definitely more memorable for me, but Marion's run was unbelievable and truly inspiring! Hope that she's able to maintain this level--the way she was playing you'd think she was a fixture in the top 5! The men's matches have been great too. Hope the US Open is as entertaining!

what is that all about?

During a doubles match, Nadia hit a volley into Huber's throat....Nadia went over to see how Huber was and she got completely screamed at to go away.....Poor Nadia!

I think this has been a very memorable Wimby - the rain, the scheduling, Marion's run, some amazing matches, Justine losing, but incredibly Venus' win and form in the latter stages. Truely awesome.

I'd say Vee's win because that is what is etched in stone, though Bartoli's run is incredible and amazing. I would have chosen both. You know we all tend to think in a zero sum gain world. Someone must win and someone must lose. But that is not exactly correct. Both were winners today despite the outcome. Both beat the odds and triumphed over their naysayers and the bookmakers.

I say both.

Vamos.
