Having broken the 5GS tie, has Venus surpassed Hingis now in terms of who has had the better career up to this point? Discuss

Venus...

Hingis is not a contender anymore. :(

Uh yeah. Venus was always going to go down as the better player, but now she has the better career as well. What drives this point home even more is the fact that Venus has now won 2 slams when she was far from her best tennis. Those 5 slams Hingis won are approaching the decade ago mark.

I think that nobody will do the same that Hingis did. Venus has a great career but Martina was better. Maybe Venus is superior than the Hingis from these days, but the 1998's Hingis... Nobody will be like her.

Hingis was never considered better. Hingis was winning GS when the only comp was Davenport..... The field of contenders is huge now and Venus finds her way on top...

Uh. Venus as an erratic teenager beat Hingis twice in 1998. Venus, even then, was just as good, and now better than Hingis ever was.

Oh let's not pick on the Martians...

...that battle is over and done...

...they'll aways be able to put on Ace of Base and relive the old days of Marti-Partys

I said it was Venus, Henin, Hingis, in that order a month ago.

It's still Venus, Henin, Hingis, now.
I guess I won't have to fight as much for Venus spot in history now. :p

venus was always the better player IMO.
but Hingis was the more accomplished b4 this tournament.
But its hard to argue with 4 Wimbledon titles. and 6 slams overall.

Right after RG, I avoided this kind of questions related to the trio Hingis/Venus/Henin. But now I feel pretty relaxed.

Venus is superior to Hingis.

Ok lets get honest here.

Hingis has great hands and a feel for the game. She has all the shots in the book. She won 5 slams by playing a great set of points. Tennis is not about ALL POWER. YET, Martina hasn't been able to win the grandslams in a long while. She's not going deep in the draws like she use to. I think that what Hingis has done was great but Venus has had the better tennis career.

Venus is still winning the big ones. Her style of tennis is able to keep up with the new generation. She is showing longevity. Which is a bit ironic when Hingis herself use to state that Vee and Serena get injured so much. Hell imho if it weren't for injuries they would own even more titles and slams even right now.

Venus has surpassed Hingis imho.

Venus is now greater than Martina, and has had a better career.

Also, Chris O'Niell is equal to Kim Clijsters, Conchita Martinez and Gabriela Sabatini in terms of greatness.

This of course is because tennis players only play 8 weeks a yar that count. Nothing else in tennis matters apart from Grand Slams.
