If you were watching the match and both players closely, you could clearly see in Venus' face that she was hurting. She was grimacing and walking gingerly, especially after those very long rallies. By the way, this is her 4th match in 4 days. So it wouldn't be a surprise if she has some type of injury given how physical a player Venus is.

Both ladies have played A LOT of tennis the past four days, boys and girls. The "injuries" both suffered are from fatigue; they'll both be fine by Tuesday.

Venus was still limping after she won. She was limping when she was carrying the trophy around.
Hopefully its nothing serious and she can get better soon.

Ridiculous comment and observation from Mary C. Venus started to either cramp or pull a muscle after playing 4 straight days. She was obviously breathing hard and laboring in the 2nd set as a result of a lot of playing. The same held true when Novak retired against Nadal today after playing 9 sets of matches over a 9 hour period. The body is saying "I need a break".

I don't think Venus was injured all that bad. Like someone said, she has played four matches in four days,so she was probably hurting a little AND she is playing Fed Cup next weekend, so the strapping was probably a precaution.

Venus played 3 matches in 25 hours in 2001, but she was much younger then. Pilot Pen which she won!

Oh, PLEASE stop. Venus was up 6-4, 3-0, and she was running down everything Marion Bartoli threw at her; I was wondering the same thing when Ted Robinson said she called for a trainer.

I've been concerned about Venus' movement since the Kuzzie match and said so in the result thread. The damn wrap made her look more uncomfortable than before she had it on. Just glad she could close it out quickly and not let Bartoli back into the match.
