Her game is very effective on grass :p And she's got a fantastic, positive attitude, she just needed a breakthrough and she finally got it, it wouldn't surprise me if she starts winning bigger titles now and becomes a fixture in the top 10 :)

Yea, I find her current form to be a little random myself. But I saw her play for the first time the other day versus Jankovic and I was impressed. So I hope she uses this final (or hopefully win) to make her a mainstay in the top 10. She's a talented ballstriker.

Yeah, I said this a long time ago. I have seen her play like this, on more than one occasion, but she could never quite string together enough of these matches to make the breakthrough. If you look at her record this year, she has some high quality wins: Dementieva, Safina, just off the top of my head; conversely, she's lost some straight setters, and even bagels, to players I do not recognize.

I think the story here is not ability, but consistency. Where did that come from? She often says she's been training and is in much better shape than previously, so that may have done it. This was an incredible day though. Now she'll get some sponsors and a big check and that will propel her do do bigger things.

I am surprsied she beat Henin, i must say that Henin let her away in the 2nd, but in the third Marion was of a different class.

I remember watching her play at the Pilot Pen qualies four or five years ago in her opening round of that. Some of the shots she hit in that match were absolutely ridiculous. She was beating the shit out of the ball and it somehow all managed to go within two inches of the line. Fast forward to the next day and she was totally erratic.

She always had a top 10 game and it was a matter of putting it together consistently. That being said, I don't think ANYONE could have expected this.

She showed glimpses of her form to come last year when she won 3 titles :D :bounce:

Yeah it is definitely odd how she's had such a major breakthrough! maybe this will giver her the confidence she needs to develop into a top 10 player, it's nice to see.

I take it you're not referring to her weight ;)
Anyways, I hope she can get some momentum from this win and hopefully play like this more consistently.

We'll see if Marion can continue playing at this pace when the US Open Series starts. Will Marion fitness come to play at the summer heats up in the US?

i remember seeing Marion too and she had really good shots off both sides. I thought at the time she was just another knock off of Monica Seles but at the time i could tell that she was really concentrated on every point and it was just a matter of time of more practice and condition that she would be the player that she is now :) I know she's worked really hard for this

It's like everyone has said she practices constantly and eventually all that practicing has to pay off. The question is, win or lose on Saturday, if we start seeing her go far in all of her tournaments from here on out.

Well, I remember watching Marion way back like 2 years ago.

She still would stand way inside the baseline to return serve but most of the time wasn't able to return them

Now seeing her again what I'm most impressed about is her return game, she's able to return the big serves from where she is standing. I think that is a very big difference. Also she's looking to attack more. Her shots are running her opponents from side to side rather than the other way around which was so much the case when she loses.
