Time for SERENA to get those numbers up on the top ten once more.
VENUS excepted, of course. :)

The more interesting stat is the trend of the winning vs. losing. Most of thier losses to the top ten came early in their careers. Correct me if I am wrong but in the Davey and Hingis case the losses are all from years ago and both Vee and Ree own these players now.

I must admit I am not sure in the case of Vee and Hingis because they are always competitive.

The top player with the best combined record against the Williams sisters is...

::drumroll::

Martina Hingis! :D

Of course, the Williams sisters were rusty the first few times they played. But then again, when Hingis dominated in 1997 and was all but unbeatable and in her prime, she only played Venus a few times and didn't get a shot at Serena. So it works both ways.

Still, the sisters have great records against the top 10.

Testud

NOPE!!!!!! Lindsay Still has a winning edge over everybody except Serena.

For your Info also, during the time of Lindsay and Martina's peak. Its very seldom for them to meat the williams because they played on diffrent tournaments. these means you can only beat one williams at a time and the williams seldome played. During Venus peak, Lindsay ia always playing even if not 100 %.

As for Serena, i can admitt that she really has lindsay's number.

Lucas arg, these is not head to head to head

rather this is HEAD TO HEAD!!!!!!

And besides I dont believed in the williams head to head. I'm not saying its fixed, but rather when they are playing against each other, they are not fighting to their full potential.

don't try to convince QueenLindsay. this is the same poster who said Venus and Serena will never win the French Open (see "Who won't win the French Open?" thread), Kim and Justine will be ranked ahead of both sisters (i.e. "Will Clisjters and Henin...?" thread) and Venus/Serena will never be No. 1 in the world

indeed, both sisters have impressive records against everyone in the top ten.

To the Rockhead - The Williams are two different people.
SERENA owns Hingis overall and VENUS has six of the last ten encounters with Hingis.

YES YES we all know the Williams are dominating and Lindsay and Hingis are injured.
No need to rub it in.
Lets not focus on past results and wait and see what happens when Lindsay and Hingis make a comeback.
Hingis quite obviously needs to overcome the power element of the Williams game, otherwise she will be stuck at the number 3 position in the rankings when she comes back.

POOR PEOPLE!!!!! they could only boast now, when the real best players are not around.

DID ever venus get near the number 2 ranking when Lindsay and Hingis are playing best tennis above the rest???? check the ranking points of 97,98,99,2000 if venus nearly caught them in the rankings.

When Venus was playing at her peak, Lindsay still is the year end number one. Can beat that!!!!!!

By that logic, all play should be suspended when a top player gets injured since everything accomplished in their absence will be meaningless. Everyone seems to forget that Lindsay became number one in the 6 month that Venus was out with tendonitis. I will assume that you think that JCap's #1 is meaningless and most of Steffi Graf's career is worthless since she had some of her best years during Monica's absence.

Both Venus & Serena have great stats against other top players.

What I find quite interesting is that Hingis has been so competitive with them both on hardcourts. Not what I would have expected.
