Let's face it: Marion will cream Justine unless Richard Williams himself chops her legs off.

Well we dont know yet..they are currently battling a 3rd set....which is kinda shocking to me..I just KNEW justine was bout to run a clinic on her..with a 6-1 win in the first.

The match is not over yet. I pick Venus in two if she plays Marion or Justine so it doesn't matter.

Again Venus vs. Justine is avoided.

Marion said she played well after she sawe Pierce Brosnan in the crowd

I think Venus will win in two  :banghead:

Surpassing Hingis' Slam total :bigcry:

And further proving she's a one-surace wonder :weirdo:

However... I would (clearly) LOVE for Bartoli to beat that nasty ass as quickly and thoroughly as possible. Make her cry, even :hearts:

Venus is going to run her around the court like a rag doll. I hope she isn't embarrased tomorrow because Venus is going to be taking shots at her first and second serve. Venus 6-1 6-3. The "world #1" got demolished in the third set. This even further strengthens the idea that Serena was injured.

you wanna say venus in two easy sets but after this sf result who knows?

Marion really deserved to be in the finals. Somehow her game suits grass well, I guess mainly cause of her accurate and precise groundstrokes, plus she's incredibly consistent! She worked hard, now it's time for her to shine.
Marion will pull a shocker defeat of the 3 times winner in Wimbledon final. Go all the way mademoiselle Bartoli!:bounce:

Venus 6-3,6-2 - but was/is an amazing and fantastic tournament for Marion so far.

Since Hingis hasn't won a slam since 1999 (and no finals since early 2002) does that make her a no surface loser?

She'll fight back after losing the first set like she did with Justine.

Sorry but Venus is a lot quicker than Justine, Marion can try to do the corner to corner crap with Venus if she wants. Venus grass court game and quickness...Venus in 2. 4th Wimbledon title..

If Bartoli plays the way she did today, she has real shot at the title. Especially if Venus' form drops a little.
I was really amazed by Bartoli today. Her two handed approach off both sides seems to work really well. Short backswing allows her to send that ball back so fast. Gives her opponent very little time to respond.
I thought Bartoli would get killed by Justine today.

Either way its going to be historical final. Neither of the two players are in the top ten!!! when is the last time that has happened? amazing!!!

Venus's level would need to drop alot for Marion to win, i mean Marion was hitting great in the 3rd set, but the pace and depth Venus has been getting since the 4th round, is almost too good for anyone right now on the tour. Unless Venus gets tight and plays like shit Venus, there is only going to be one winner

Bartoli in 3 sets. Cmon Marion you can do this

When you see the names normally Venus has to win. But neary everybody said Marion won't have a chance vs. Justine...

So I say Marion will win in 3...

starin

another thing.
Venus has never played Bartli and Bartoli has nothing to lose. And if its windy her short backswings will help her a lot.

But Venus has played someone similar to Bartoli in Morigami who hits with both hands and hits flat.

And to people saying Venus will overpower Marion. Look at Venus' matches she's taken a lot of pace off. hence the low UE count. Bartoli's been hitting flatter and harder and she goes in this match with a shot. Plus she's a fighter and that always counts for something in tennis.

but Good luck to Venus!!

Jul 6th, 2007, 06:26 PM
venus williams and steffi graf are the quickest tennis players I have seen in my life. Venus will chase everything Bartoli will throw at her and will return it with interest and will win it in two sets. but for that venus has to play well. if venus comes out overconfident like she came out against morigami etc. she is done. bartoli taking it in three sets.

Argument is Over!!!! - Venus in straight sets. I mean I know everyone wants to root for Bartoli and give her probs for beating Justine, but the fact of the matter is that Venus Williams is playing phenominal tennis. She raked Sharapova, Kuznetsova, and Ivanovic(surprisingly) through the coals. And we all know how Venus plays in GS finals! So stop debating and give my girl Vee her props.

we knew what happend when Venus played an opponent whos game is similar to Bartoli...
Venus was down 3-5 in that 3rd set against Morigami...

But one this is... Venus return has been great, deep and cornered
since her meeting with Morigami..so hopefully
Vee would have scope up this Bartoli
so that she wont underestimate her

jbone_0307
Jul 6th, 2007, 06:47 PM
If Venus continues to serve like she has, she doesn't have a chance. Justine was serving like crap the entire tournament and even an injured Serena (without a backhand) was able to attack Justine's 1st serve. Justine shanked so many balls today. Venus' will be able to get just about everything Bartoli dishes out, not to mention Bartoli's serve. Venus is gonna take cuts at her 1st and 2nd serve like a butcher. Like I said earlier Venus in two 6-1 6-3

Don't underestimate Marion.

Sveta played with no confidence at all and had 7 breakpoint chances against Venus. Ana played like shit and had 4. If Marion gets those chances the way that she's been playing today, she'll actually take them.

Venus played a good match against Sharapova but these last two matches have not been that good. And how many matchpoints did she need both today and yesterday? If I were a Venus fan, I would not be counting my chickens.

edificio
Jul 6th, 2007, 06:52 PM
Even with Marion a somewhat unknown quantity in Slam finals, I have to pick Venus to win. I just hope this is a good, competitive match.

Shvedbarilescu
Jul 6th, 2007, 06:53 PM
I really don't have a clue. I would make Venus the slight favorite. But I certainly don't expect her to win as easily as she did against Sharapova, Kuznetsova or Ivanovic. Marion is definately playing at a substantially higher level to those three. But Venus is playing amazing tennis too. This is not the final most people would have predicted at the beginning of the tournament but it is definately a matchup between the two players who have produced the best tennis of the tournament and if they can maintain that level tomorrow it will be a heck of a final no matter who wins.

:worship: :worship: Thank you! People can be so ridiculous at times, it's amazing...like Venus a) 3-time champion, chasing history, to be in line with the elite group of players. b) In the latter stages of her career, when so many are questioning her skill, believe, ability, Even legacy. c)The Venus who, as appears miraculously, is showing the same form which lead her to dominate the game in '00 and '01...consequently the same form which lead her to 3 sucessive, quite convincing wins against top-10 players.... IS REALLY gonna let Bartoli beat her on HER own court:smash:  . REALLLY people get it together, STOP trying add drama, when you know deep in your heart, there won't be tomarrow!!:wavey:

I like how people are saying that Venus will have to play her best tennis and might have a letdown. But aren;t saying the same for a first time slam finalist playing against a 3 time Wimbledon champion and 5 time slam winner. Sure, anything can happen if Venus plays erratically or if she underestimates her opponent, but nothing these championships has shown that Venus is likely to do either of those things.
