No, Jelena/Ana isn't the new Justine/Kim. Wait until they win a slam to start 100 threads everyday about how great they are. It's boring.

i'm not serbian, and can't understand the denial about the truth of the war; but they are happy and proud of their heros who are giving them a positive image on the world stage.

You're just pissed because they get more attention. Get over it.

Most of them don't. But all people have trouble accepting the truth about their countries, Serbia is no different.

Well they are great...get over that. Once a argentine woman gets to the final of GS...we can talk how great argentine woman players are...except getting on knees for every single ATP guy :o

I'm not Serbian; but I can't understand why anybody wouldn't be excited about Ana and Jelena ( and of course Nole ) , and what they bring to the game, both on and off the court... And it's stupid to bring up the war, and turn everything political - WHAT DID THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ANA,JELENA,OR NOVAK???!!!

Ana did very well for herself in the second set. She's got nothing to be upset about. She gave her more of a headache then Sharapova did, unfortunately. She's going to be dangerous real soon. And really, in the finals and the semis in month or so, that is a big deal.

you all have to understand that tennis was not popular at all in our country before AI JJ and Novak, and some people are often asking me OMG what kind of result is 15-40 shouldn't it be 1-3 and stuff like that. in serbia all was about football, basketball and water polo and other group sports, tennis is the first individual sport that is popular here. every day you can see a lot of kids playing tennis on the street and this is all thanks to them. because many of their fans were very small or they were not even born during seles era. and beside that those 3 players are on advertisements and bilbords and we are proud of them so if you don't like threads about them DON'T READ THEM.

You have every right to be proud of them and if this era of great tennis players from Serbia is getting young kids more involved with tennis then thats fantastic :D

Why can't the Serbian fans support Ana and Jelena?

We have threads about Brie Whitehead every week, if you don't like threads about non-GS winners then get the hell out of GM.

Uhmmm...Monika Seleš, Jelena Dokić...Rings a bell?

Uhmmm...Monika Seleš, Jelena Dokić...Rings a bell?

well Dokic was not merely as accepted as Novak,Ana and Jelena. People had enough problems on their own the reading about a spoiled rich kid fight with her insane daddy who happened to be a supporter to a radical party. She was never seen as popular as them. If you ask a 12 year old kid who is his role model...you won't get "Jelena Dokic" for sure. She's a different league. She didnt succeed partly because she couldnt identify with any country. She couldn't do it in Australia she couldn't do it in Serbia. And the gap between Monika and 3 of them is huge. 15 years in difference so there was a big gap in between...and to correct your previous post. We have two top3 players and 1 more top5....from monday :wavey:

I've always thought that the real new alpha female of the WTA would be someone we weren't expecting; I can't really see Ana or JJ winning multiple grand slams in the future...

well when Williams and Henin leave..Jelena will be in her prime 25-26...Who do you think will win GS titles? Schiavone?Mirza?Rezai?

Come on.... And Ana being even younger...

thats a reality deal with it!

They are great but people are askign too much at such an early date. Ivanovic may be a best ever candidate though in the future, maybe the nest GOAT after serena, so i understand the excitement.

early date... Ivanovic is 19 and reached a GS Final and Semifinal in a row...

Ana appears to be managing her career wisely as for jj she will be burntout like myskina at 25yrs from too much playing or nagging injuries.Myskina started playing the way jj is playing and where is she now ,in the doldrums.
Justine is not going to retire anytime soon tennis is her life I see her playing into her thirties.Venus looks much better than the teenagers she is playing and she can play for the next five yrs and still win wimbledon.

I dont't understand why some Serbians are trying to explain something, when it is evidentially that this thread is malicious.
