Just watching the start of this match. Bartoli looked like she was visibly shaking before going for her first serve of the match. This not looking like it will be much of a match...

 I can imagine an easy drubbing. Marion is out of her league.

What would you expect for her first Slam semi?

The young guns' performances at their first big slam showing (vaidisova, ivanovic, jankovic, bartoli) make me wonder if they will ever be like the current best players (williams sisters, justine, maria)...

In maria's first semi, she pulled out a win over davenport on grass...
In Serena's (1999 US Open) she beat davenport...
In Justine's, she came out firing and lost a close 3-setter to Clijsters at the french, then beat capriati in 3 in the wimby semi's
In venus's, she played davenport and lost in close one.

Not all of them won their first...but none got blown out.

The young players don't see to have that fight like Hingis, Serena, Venus and Maria do or did when coming on the scene. They have the skills but they need more.

Vaidisova & Jankovic weren't blown out in their first slam semis. Though both did choke. And this match isn't over...Bartoli always starts slow.

Yeah, she could probably use a rain delay soon.

As much as I like Ana she was blown out in her first final by Henin. Ana already got that out of the way. She will learn. I like her too but Venus my fav.

Of course it was! I thought something was wrong when I was writing that...was looking at wtatour's profile and guess I missed the 97 F (not sure how though, as that was her big coming out party!). Just another example showing the current top players didn't choke their first opportunities!

But hold on...Ivanovic's first slam semi wasn't a blowout either because she won...it was the eventual final. Venus lost the final of that US Open 6-0 6-4.
